I've played a good number of games at this point in the FFA and arena playlists and I'm really liking this game so far. I'm confident this will be good if not great game that can hold onto its player population.
I like sprint??? In Reach and H4 sprint seemed like a gimmicky standalone mechanic thrown in to compete with COD. In H5 sprint contributes to an overall feeling of faster gameplay with more creative movement options in conjunction with clamber, thruster, ground and pound. Even if someone is down shots and sprints away, it feels like you're much better equipped to chase and come out ahead. Movement as a whole is fast and seems to have a lot of depth. I watched a bit of Ninja's stream and it's interesting just to watch him move around the map.
The maps do a good job of supporting the new gameplay mechanics. They're mostly Arena size and feel a bit bigger than H3's Pit. There seems to be a good encounter rate with interesting ways to fight and move around. The maps do feel a bit similar to me at this point in time.
The skill gap is back. Shooting and strafing skill is on par with H3. Plus with all the new ways to move around (like thruster), it makes shooting even more challenging. It's possible to rack up multi-kills in this game without nades...just by out-shooting.
I'm very happy with this game so far. I think it has a lot of potential to both the casual and competitive audiences. It's a good game and if you like Halo you should definitely check it out.

I've been watching some streams and the game looks SO much better than some of the previous games. Once they get some of the issues fixed with the lobby and friends list, I'll probably give it a shot.
I have stuck to my guns and decided to wait it out instead of being there Day 1. Overall, it's encouraging.
I respect your resolve especially after MCC. I'd caution against waiting too long though...it's still early but it feels like there'll be a pretty steep learning curve and a lot to catch up on if you get in too late.

I was only on for a few games last night but I'll be playing more often. I'm still trying to get the new moves down and get used to the aiming. Will def be getting some games in this weekend. How about you?
Don't know about you but I haven't had much luck in my ranking games so far (gold arena, plat FFA). But I really like how they did that...adds a bit of excitement. Also been checking out the stats and really like all the shots fired and percentages and stuff.
The "spectate" feature in MM is fun - watching ppl on your fr list play. .
Finished the solo heroic campaign last night. Some aspects I didn't care for, but it'll be more fun next time. Getting past the Wardens was tough-frustrating... without having watched any youtube videos or read any strategy guides. Sniper rifles and rocket launchers didn't work? Say what???
I finished campaign solo heroic. Wardens were indeed, a pain in the ass.
Story was 'okay'. Levels are generally huge and offer lots of replayability for variability, skulls and information nodes. The random characters have lots of varied dialogue.
Not sure if I want to bother with legendary.
I liked the singing grunt choir on mission 12, that was a WTF moment to stumble across. Some of the intel items are pretty funny too. oh well, still more story than Destiny ohhhh

How's everyone recording clips these days? I tried the xbone DVR, but it took a while to get a clip done. Is there a better way to do it?
Another question about films...the gameplay seems out of sync (just looked at 1 so far). Is anyone else getting this? I'm guessing it has to do with the dedicated servers and how the game records?

When I was playing in the game I didn't notice any lag. But in the video it seems like the local/hosted parts of the gameplay are a little out of sync..kinda takes some oomph out of the clip. Maybe it's just something that happens sometimes. In any case, a pretty minor gripe....never had more fun with FFA in a vanilla Halo playlist before.
I make videos in Upload studio and then I post links to the dvr site. I have very limited computer skills so it's the best I can do. I just posted a MCC vid in the montage thread.
cool vid. I can see how the dvr feature is good if your friend doesn't own the game for a clip you have. But I wish there wasn't such a big delay (maybe they could just put in an offset based on your ping?). I'm not trying to gripe about H5 btw...only reason I care about clips is cause I'm loving the game.
Been using an external capture card connected to my laptop via USB for quite awhile now. I can record game play, including my voice with the mic function in the capture software. Wondering if the promised WIndows 10 connection will allow projection/streaming of audio and video from the XBONE to a desktop/laptop. If that were the case, then one could possibly capture game play on connected PC. I will definitely be keeping my out eye out for that.
I don't know if I want to do a streaming setup to save lag-free clips for now, but thanks for the idea.
I played breakout for about 3 hours yesterday, lots of fun.
I completely lost track of time while playing last night. Reminds me of how time seemed to fly in the H3 days. After getting some more PT, still loving the game!

I usually just stream to Twitter when I'm raiding, if anything worth while happens I will download the video to my laptop and edit it.
