Are you ready for the Nintendo briefing today? I am! After many a year cringing about most of the big N's hardware I have still remained a fan. The Wii, the WiiU, the yearly release of yet another DS have all left a bad taste in my mouth. However, this year I managed to snag a Mini NES Classic and a Switch. In my humble opinion, two of the best devices Nintendo has released in years! The Switch delivered on the promise of a true portable console and the NES Classic is retro gaming awesomeness! Will we see a Mini SNES today? Who knows, but I am looking forward to more games from all those oft-touted studio partners that Nintendo has courted for the Switch. We heard on Sunday that Microsoft is enabling Minecraft players on the Switch to play with and against those on Xbox, PC and mobile devices which is pretty wild when you think about it!
The briefing starts at 9am PST / Noon EST and I will be watching from my couch at home and posting what I see here! See you soon!
Here we go!
The opening video showing a lot of 1st party games like Arms and Splatoon2 but also Rocket League and was that Fifa I saw?
Reggie is up telling us that games are meant to be challenging and fun and leads us into a trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 from Monolith.
Now onto Kirby...Typical Kirby game launching in 2018.
We have a promise from Mr. Takahashi that thsi summer will see lots of new 3rd party releases.
Gamefreak has been developing a new Pokemon RPG which will release in the future. I am guessing late 2018 maybe 2019.
Next up is a teaser for Metroid 4 Prime (under development) and then a quick switch to a new Yoshi game. More Little Big Planet that Mario it looks like it will be something for the kids in 2018.
Now a trailer Fire Emblem Warriors chock full of cheesy inspirational speeches. I actually enjoy Fire Emblem Heroes on my phone so maybe I might jump in on this on the switch.
AHA! DLC for Legend of Zelda! The Master Trials brings Trial of the Sword, New Armor, a new Master mode and a mask! Holjy jeebus! a Mask! I missed the second...good thing I can rewind! Looks to be called The Champions Ballad. The 4 Champions in the trailer will be available as Amiibo. The master Trials drops June 30th while The Champions Ballad is set for the upcoming Holiday season.
Reggie is talking about some of the tournaments for 3 of the Nintendo games, Splatoon2, Pokken Tournament and Arms. All being played at E3 this year.
Ubisoft is developing a Mario/Rabbids crossover. Mario+Rabbids:Kingdom Battle launches August 29th, 2017.
The worldwide car soccer sensation Rocket League is coming to the switch with Cross platform support and Mario and Luigi hats! Coming this holiday season!
AH! T-Rex!...wait...Mario? So if you throw his hat, which is now an entire game mechanic complete with eyes, you can takeover whatever creature it lands on? Like the aforementioned T-Rex...I am not sure how I feel about that. I mean a Goomba is a Goomba and it feels wrong for that Goomba to all of a sudden have a mustache. Call me old school but Goomba were made for squashing!! Either way, Super Mario Odyssey is coming October 27th.
Well thats it folks! Quick little half hour, not as much as I would have liked to see. Yes we know Skyrim is coming to the Switch and with Zelda specific items but I was hoping for more Nintendo! MORE!
Mixed emotions from this presentation. I love the first party games but I was more excited to hear about 3rd party games and NEW 3rd party games. Sadly seems like just ports for now. Oh well. I'll keep my hopes up and maybe next year when my daughter and Mrs. Soup are done playing Zelda I may get a chance to play!
