New Releases: week of March 13th, 2022

I void warranties. Mainly on computer stuff. Car stuff...not so much as I can recover from bricking a laptop, but not a $50,000 vehicle. I can't say I am not tempted to do a little modding to my car but it's good the way it is. At least that is what I keep telling myself. My PC and laptop however are always in a state of "I think I can make it better!" Take for instance last weekend; I received a new wireless card in the mail for my laptop as even with fibre internet the wireless was topping out at maybe 50mbps. So I gave Amazon $25 they sent me a new and better card. Shit simple to pop out and install...so I thought. I popped the antennae off the old one and the stupid little snap ring on the card broke off the card and attached itself to the antennae cable. What was literally a 5 minute job max turned into two hours of me zooming in with my phone and one of the kids old magnifying glasses to see WTF was going on. Even then my old ass eyes were not 100% sure. My wife came with a pick tool and after 15-20 minutes of trying to pry the goddamn ring off it was free! Success! Or so I thought. I managed to bend the snap ring on the cable out of shape so then I had to take some pliers and try it reshape it back. Finally got that sonovabeech on and then I turned my laptop on.

In anticipation I had downloaded new drivers. I knew it might not recognize it out of the gate but I was still nervous due to the shit I just went throught to put it in. I installed the drivers, crossed my fingers and now I was getting 400mbps! Thank Jeebus! Why am I happy with less than 1/2 the speed? Well it is an older laptop and it's about as fast of a card I can put in. So if it is that old where was the warranty concern? Good question. When I bought it I immediately replaced the HDD with an SSD and upgraded the ram. It was cheaper for me to do it that way then buy it with those options...remember those days? Pepperidge Farm remembers. This whole ordeal made me remember when the manufacturer of the laptop phoned me up and was telling me my warranty was running out and I should re-up. I said I voided that within the first 48 hours of getting it. The dude was confused. I told him what I did and he was like "Ok, cool. Have a great night!". Moral of the story; PC's are not magical things, we can upgrade them, change them, make new out of old, we just need to be ok with voiding the warranty from time to time!

Stanger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
Release Date:
March 18th, 2022
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, XSX/S

I have much respect for the Final Fantasy franchise. I have tried to get into it many times but those of you that can keep the story lines straight...well you are gods. I have no idea what is going on and after about 15 minutes of being all WTF??!!? I give up. I know enough to be wary of the word "Origin" in the title because maybe they mean it...maybe they don't.

Syberia: The World Before looks to be an graphical adventure/ puzzle game. Seems to be more mystery than true adventure from the trailer but hey that may be your jam!
