Ok sooo my gamertag is DeadDrPhibes and I;m a 39 year old gadget freak who likes to slap together mildly dangerous yet amusing toys in my craptastical basement workshop..Since I am a late-comer to blogging and all the original blog themes are taken, I;m just going to use this space to ramble on and on about the dorky little things i cobble together in my basement to amuse myself..

A few of the projects I have started(and realize I am not deluded into thinking i am the first to do any of this.. if you find this stuff boring, go read someone elses blog.. this will most appeal to gadget freaks and pyromaniacs).. :  I;m just finishing up a 2 meter radio controlled sail plane.. nothing too exciting, but I plan to put a small (about 1" cube) vid cam with transmitter in it and make exciting, grainy short films of near misses with trees, my roof, slow-moving bystanders, and probably terrified mice as the thing augers in.  Ill post photos when its finished.. I;ve just slapped together a water rocket launcher.. so far i;ve launched unmodified 590ml bottles about 70 feet with only 30 psi and about 200ml of water.. so it stands to reason a 2 liter bottle with about 100 psi  and some aerodynamic refinement should either make about 300 feet, or explode in my face and embed shards of PET plastic in my corneas.. Check this space Sunday to see which it was!

I may make a hydrogen powered version of the water rocket setup that just uses a little dc current and lye to split hydrogen and oxygen out of water for fule.... its sooo easy that its a little scary.. as a proof of concept, I;m making a tiny tater gun powered by a small hydroxy generator.. think potato gun, then scale it down to tater tot size and add a pistol grip.. i have a theory that if i launch marshmallows with the thing, they may ignite from the combustion.. would be great fun for starting the grille from a distance.. hmmmm.

A few other irons are in the fire.. 360 b button controller mod, perhaps an r/c glider with water rocket launch .. i;ll post as any progress is made..

I have an R/C car with a camera in the hood and a tv monitor in the controller. It is mildly amusing and provides a few novelty gags. Tap water usually runs around 40-50 psi. 100 psi shouldnt be too dangerous as long as the bottle doesnt splinter. I wouldnt go for much more than that, unless you can protect yourself from explosion. Take it greasy, DDP.
