I wont be the wasted potential

Everyday it seems that my dream is getting farther and farther away from me.

For the first 3 to 4 years of this new century, it was going strong. I was pursuing it with the passion needed to achieve success. But then, it all just came crashing down. There were many reasons (which I do not care to list at the moment) but looking back, it should not have deterred me from continuing to follow that dream. I cant say exactly why I didnt immediately jump back into it. Maybe I was too scared and maybe it was too soon. Maybe it was a combination of both; but that doesnt matter anymore.

Its been a year and a half and Im more than overdue to get back into it. This may very well be my last chance to make any kind of a run at it. Although, I am torn. Part of me wants to devote everything I have to pursuing my dream. But the more "logical" side says to "get your act together", "go back to school", "get a job", "start a career", etc. Part of my problem is that I am too picky about certain things. Ironically, it can be my greatest strength and simultaneously my greatest weakness.

But anyways, I HAVE to pursue my dream. If I dont, I will forever despise myself for not giving it another shot.

I would rather fail than regret not having tried.

You can always go back to school, so go for it. It is better to regret having done something, then regret not having done something.

Dude totally make a run for it. Just my 2 cents though. For the critics including your logical side just remember that making something out of your band is a career, you do have to have your act together, and it is a job. Im sure you will take this seriously and do something great with it. Dont be wracked with self doubt. You can always go to school for night and weekend classes if you feel it is necessary. If you do some business classes it will help you that much more for the band. Oh yeah, you BETTER come tour this side of the country so I can get a chance to check you guys live! :-D Peace!

I struggled with the same thing a few years ago - I could have stayed in NY, become a teacher, and been comfortable, but i decided to take a chance and move to DC, and now I can say that Ive gotten to do a lot of things I dreampt of that i would never have gotten a chance to do otherwise. So, in a nutshell, "go confidently in the direction of your dreams". You can always use the fall-back plan later, since thats what it is - a fall-back.

Good luck. As long as your odds are better than a lottery then go for it.
