Why theres a weekend

This has been a great weekend.  As I sat out on the patio today, sipping a cool one and taking a siesta in the shade, I had one of those rare moments of clarity.  Although this thought is nothing new or exciting, it dawned on me, in a very meaningful way, that weekends such as this are the reason I bust my ass day in and day out.

We didnt do anything spectatular this weekend.  Went out to dinner, saw a movie, worked on the yard, and did a little grilling.  But, for once, I didnt take all that for granted.  For once, I was in the moment, appreciating it as it was happening.

Its so easy to think of what you dont have, or what you didnt accomplish, but this was once where I got it right.  I just wanted to write this down to remind myself.  My wife and I often spend too much time talking about what we want, and not enough appreciating what we have.  But, this weekend, it was just the two of us all weekend.  It served to remind us of how lucky we really are.
