Schedule should be back to normal next week.

I only have theKing waiting for a session

Yes my training sessions are very much rince and repeat,I follow you for a few laps and determine where you need the most work and what techniques you maybe missing. Then I'll make you do that corner again and again untill you hit the target i set.  Finally, we'll hammer around the track with me barking instructions at you :)

Well the time has come for me to ask for help. I need help on everything lol. I am roughly about 4 seconds slower than the pack. I know things will come in time but if i keep going the way i am then i will loose interest in this game and just play it when im bored which i dont want to do.

Any help is appreciated and I am available during the daytime and most evening during the week and nearly all day Sunday.

Haha, I make it sound much worse than it is.   The technique is the easy part to explain, but getting it nailed is the hard part :)

No Problem Paul, We can turn some laps.   Just to point out though, people like myself & KC are exceptionally quick.  Bench mark your time against us as we are likely to be consistently quick on each track.  Now the point i'm getting to is that the rest of the pack are around 2 seconds slower (ish) and those are still faster than most in public lobbies!  :)

I'm confident that i can take 2 seconds off a laptime in your sessions, possibly 3.

Awaiting Training.

I am awaiting a steering wheel to arrive so might be best to wait for that to come first.

Thanks in advance.

Tourni, when you have some time can we have a 2nd session?  I learned so much from the 1st one.   There are some circuits I am very bad at :D

I can certainly help with it, but like J said you are very quick and very clean.  Racing doesn't come without incidents, even from the best!   Your techniques is damn good already, but there are one or two things that you could add to your tool box :)

You don't shadow people so much, this is used for two reasons - if they brake early then you'll take them. If you over cook it, then you'll have space to get through.   Now, it is the responisbility of both drivers to avoid contact but at certain times the responsibility shifts to either driver  :)

The other one is covering your apex, I don't recal seeing you go defensive on me. So its some thing that maybe of use to you.

Aggressive driving isn't necessarily a bad thing and can be really effective if used in moderation - We'll catch up and talk through some points!

Hey Daz. I've seen you drive & you're wicked fast bro 7 from what I've seen you race super clean. If you're having trouble in traffic, then I really don't think school is the answer. the only way to get better in traffic is to race. the longer you stay here, the more you'll improve of course. but you'll also learn the driving habits of the people you race with regularly. Once you've learned how other folks drive, it's much easier to anticipate their moves on track. just give it time & you will be fine I think. the best advice that I can give is to not rush your pass. If you're on someone's tail, take your time making the pass. there's no need to get it done in one turn. Learn how to set up your pass. Here's an example...

Let's say that you & I have never raced before 7 you're coming up on my tail to pass. Instead of jumpingat the 1st opening you see, take a lap or 2 to stay on my tail 7 pay attention to where you are faster. then try to get yourself in a position to make your pass at my weakest point on the track.

Now that I have a weekend under my belt with the new wheel and pedals, it's time for some lessons. Tue-Fri evenings (EST GMT-5) and anytime on the weekends would work for me.

(This is going to hurt btw)

As i'm not as fast as you I would like to know why?

Where am I going wrong to lose the .3 of a second per lap?

I would love to help but I don't know how I race myself. I just seem to do it?

Nowt wrong with wanting to go faster, it is what racing is all about.  However, your session will be the hardest of them all as you'll be at the limit most of the time already. The term a few tenths is alot stems from this, its very hard to make up tenths at the top of your game :)

I know where you are slower though, and its due to your driving style.  You are very heavy on the throttle which doesn't quite give you the finesse to get out of some of the corners fast, where i think we'll really see a difference will be in the V8s.

Easily trainable, hard to master.

I am exactly the same.

I know i need to work on my throttle control.

I have noticed the lap times are quicker now i am using clutch, just trying to get a bit of finesse into changing gear and hitting my braking points more.

I should be good to start some training this weekend, seeing as the v8's are coming up - i'll be using them. So bring your "A" game to the party :)

If you can drive these then you'll be sorted, the track in question will be Sunset.

Thanks for a great training session today, Cotter.  I applied what you taught me in the Playboy MX-5 race, and was sitting in 2nd for about 1/2 of the race, before a few blown corners dropped me to 7th.  Still, a good day for me and much more confidence with that car, drag tires and all.  Looking forward to another lesson next weekend with you or Tourni.

Gear Changes - Flat shift always, unless you are at a point where the car is going to get very loose (not often)

Throttle contol - the aim of the game is to apply the throttle as smoothly as you can so that you can feel the car change its atitude.  When you get this feeling, you can manage it to rotate the vehicle as needed.  The laptimes will fall into place after that :)

Hey guys, As others have stated, I could really use some help.

I want to run with the assists off but between working on my shifting, braking and accelerating, its difficult to be consistent

  • I’m running a basic wheel/pedal setup.  Nothing fancy
  • I’m running with a manual without the clutch

Here are some bad habits I know Im doing wrong

  • For some reason, when entering a corner and apply the brake, for some reason at the exact same time, I downshift.  Why, I have no idea.
  • Even though I have the driving line, it seems I like to aim for the direction of the straight I'm on too apply the brakes instead of aiming for the apex.  End result is missing the apex completely.
  • Throttle control exiting the corner.  The backend wants to go around on me.  I know tuning would help a bit but I need to learn throttle control first
  • Shifting - I think I’m waiting to late to upshift and Im downshifting way too soon
  • Breaking points - I think Im breaking way too late and I know Im not consistent with it.
  •

Finally, I've been running the ring in a B class Integra with my hot laps in the 9:05ish range. I know its not the best track to leanr on but I really enjoy the track.  That said, I want to learn the other tracks so any track is good for me

I don’t have a HDD so I can't save any replays. Sorry

That said, I’m open to any and all suggestions.  My goal right now is to just get some consistency in my laps so when I start racing in events, I can enjoy it regardless if I podium or not.

Thanks
