2O4F - Week in Review - 11/04/13

2O4F - Week in Review – 11/4/13

November is picking up right where October left off as we continue to see some exciting races here at 2O4F. Even though we have some bumping and banging taking place in some of our races, we strive to race with respect and minimize the impacts.  Sometimes it happens via lag spikes or just making mistakes in the braking zones.  Even though this happens from time to time, the racing continues to be well balanced and enjoyable even if it is frustrating from time to time.

Next week, we will see three existing series wrapping up their seasons in what looks to be some great races.  Even though these series are wrapping up, plans are in the works for some replacement events in the near future along with some new FM5 events once the game hits the shelves!

Below you will find the results and race highlights from this past week’s races.

SuperMini Series  –@ Rally di Positano (Tuesdays)
Race Highlights – This past week, the series headed to the twisty track that is Rally di Positano. I have to tell you that I had some serious concerns on how this would play out and  for the most part, the race was mostly uneventful as we only had a couple of incidents.  Congrats to Max and Track for wins.  This week, the series heads to Japan and the Tsukuba Circuit.  Will Jonnyfocus and imjimeez hold onto the top spot in the standings?

Volvo Touring Championship @ Silverstone International (Wednesdays)
Race Highlights – This past week, PrebuiltAbyss was the class of the field as the series took on the famed Silverstone National Circuit.  Even after Prebuilt took the lead a few laps into the event, I missed my breaking point and locked up the wheels taking both myself and Prebuilt off the track and losing several positions.  Prebuilt took the incident in stride and not only raced strong but was able to re-take the lead and the win with just a handful of laps remaining.  With Parcells and myself finished 2-3, the point total for the series championship comes down to 2 points as we head to the green monster that is Nordschleife!

FINAL race @ Nordschleife on 11/6/13

  1 – Prebuilt

The Lotus Cups – Silver Cup @ Motegi East (Saturdays)
Race Highlights – Although a small field of Silver Cup competitors, we had 12 racers for the event at Motegi East event last week.  XXsitement took the lead early and with the clean air proceeded to take the checkered flag along with taking over the points lead with just the series finale at Nordschleife remaining.  The series has enjoyed some close hard fought battles each and every week as the cars are a blast to drive. Next week we will crown the series Champion and with just two points separating XXsitement and Gentlemen Racer, the hard fought battle should continue.

FINAL race @ Nordschleife on 11/9/13

In other news!

The days are getting closer to the release of Forza5 and we are starting to see more in-game footage and it does indeed look fantastic so far. As stated in last week’s WiR, it looks to be a mix bag of us that will be making the jump to FM5 for various reasons ranging from costs to lack of current wheel support which some of us have invested significant $’s in our equipment.  Will be interesting to hear from the day one racers as they take to the tracks.  That said, we plan to continue with series events along with random lobbies for FM4 for the foreseeable future.  Be sure to check out the 2O4F Event Schedule for race details with both FM4 and FM5.

As we begin to wrap up three championships next week, we are happy to announce a new FM4 series on Saturdays starting up on 11/23. The Peugeot 207 Super Cup will consist of two races each week (7 week season) lasting around 25 mins each race with all competitors racing the 2007 Peugeot 207 Super 2000.  Signups are currently taking place and our first of two planed shakedown events will take place on 11/9/13.

Our weekly Track Nights continues to have strong turnouts on (Wednesday Night - hosted by gizziegod & Friday Night – hosted by myself) has we run every class (F - R1) at a set track each week. This past week the Euro guys on Wednesday raced at Nordschleife while the North American guys on Friday headed Sebring with the manufacture challenge featuring Chevys.  This continues to be a great way to learn the tracks and we continue to see great participation.

This week the WeeklySaturdaySuperFunEvent (hosted by A TRICOOTERTOPS this week) featured Ford vs Chevy.  As A TRICOOERTOPS stated in the opening post promoting the event –

“With a very quick dethroning from the top position, Chevy took the leader position from Ford. It came down to a tie breaker at the end of the night. A Class Ford VS Chevy on Road Atlanta. This is what happened. Ford was down by 1 man. 2 full laps remain on Road Atlanta. Ford is in the lead to start the 4th out of 5 laps. Then TRICOOTERTOPS had an engine stall (my controller batteries died) coming into the 4th lap causing him to lose 2 positions and lots of distance. At the end of the race Chevy beat Ford only by a margin of about 30-40ft. Congrats to Chevy for taking the crown. Good racing and good luck taking on Dodge and the all-powerful Viper.”

The Thursday Night Small-bore Race Series is off to a great start as the guys hit the track this past week at Laguna Seca in what looked to be a great start to the 3 week season.  Congrats to brntguy on the win with drivebye and prebuilt rounding out the top 3.  Next week the gents head to Hockenheim National.

In addition to the above, we frequently have a number of random lobby races where the guys just run random tracks and cars.  These are a great way to try out new cars and improve your racing skills, not to mention have a great time.

As always, if you’re interested in good clean racing, helping each other and having a good time in an older (must be 25 or older) respectable community, feel free to head over to www.2old2Play.com and sign up and let us know you’re interested in joining 2old4forza in the “New in town” forum.  We are always looking for new members to share some good banter and racing etiquette with.  Hope to see you on the track.
