Beat me too it! :)

hopefully you can make it mate and look forward to battling with everyone today....I've seen to have gone backwards in tuning for this track :(

my pb results in shot tires within 5 laps but have found a setting that somewhat preserves the tire longer but is avg. 1.5-2 secs slower.

Run a no pit strategy on hards avg 3 secs slower or a one stop with 2 possible strategies....a medium start with a longer first stint switching to softs or preserve 2 sets of softs with the chance of them being done in the final laps ?

Soooo much thinking lol

So the majority of these races will be in the wet then considering it is winter for most of us

You guys couldn't hear me either!

GT6 is turning out to be worse than Forza for me problem wise, oh well, hope you had a good race guys.

Not sure what happened Mapo.  It was showing you as "watching" the race with the little binoculars next to your name and most of us telling you to ready up.  It sounds like your system froze on you.  Sorry you missed the race.

As for the races, tire management is going to be key in this series, which is tough considering the front wheels want to constantly break traction under acceleration.  I thought I had a plan of attack for the race but had to make a change in the middle as I really abused my soft tires in the first stint of the first race trying to keep up with Stevie and with Mapo pressing.  Oh well.  3rd and 2nd place finishes will go along way in the points!

Good racing guys, see you next week

Gutted Mapo!!

Racing wise you really really need to think about the whole race and not that one lap or how much you can win buy!

Race one I was happy with 4th with the weight. Although I should have changed to Hard's on my second set. If I did I  may have finished 3nd as the mids gave up on me with 2 laps left :(

Race 2 I was second with Ruddy up front but I had about 5 cars behind me going crazy so I just managed a gap and finished with a reall good set of tyres smiley

Good racing guys, sorry about your issues mapo.  I again lost FFb mid way through the second race and haven't figured out the issue.  I can't tell if it's my wheel or the game ?  It usually goes after 45 min my screen will blink than I hear a click in my wheel and the FFb goes extremely week when cornering? What's odd is I still have the throttle vibration and I can feel road bumps but little to no resistance while cornering so iam unable to tell when the tires are loaded and just push them past the limit and cook them pretty quickly.  I thought maybe overheating but wrote that off as I've played hrs of PC racing at stronger strengths so I can't see it being that?

As for the races I can't complain with 2 podiums :) nearly botched the first race when I locked them up and went wide in turn 2 dropping me from. 1st to 6th but battled back, 2nd race 45kg I had to alter my line a bit but surprisingly my tires lasted much longer getting tied up in turn 2 resulting in a spin put a big challenge I front but made it back to 3 rd which iam more than happy with.  Sorry to Johnny for the tie up when he was heading to the pits I was driving by on the inside when he turned into them and we went for a little ride across the grass :)

thanks again church for hosting as iam loving the series and car even tho it can be a handful at times

Kurupt, have you tried to power cycle your wheel off and then on between races?  See if that helps for the 2 race series

Great racing guys. I could do nothing to stop my tyres dying on the last 2 laps of each race. And the under steer  when my tyres reach 5 :0

Still not sure if I had fun or not yesterday. I’m sure ultimately I’ll look upon it as fun but mostly because it was a comedy of errors on my part. I’ll blame my stupidity on the excitement of getting through a full work day without knowing the results of the Federer/Nadal match so I could watch it last night so I was bit giddy about that and was why I left ASAP after the race just in case someone happened to talk about the great match (which wasn’t the case sadly :(). Coupled with the race time which starts about 30 minutes after I get home from work which doesn’t leave a lot of time to set the rig up, crack a beer, decompress for a minute, roll and smoke a joint there’s more going on here than you’re aware of :)

Anyway, in chronological order of Parcells “errors”…

1) Forgot to get an oil change prior to the race. Didn’t realize this until the start of the second race (at which point I was about 17 HP and 20+ PP below the max.) so let this be a lesson to everyone…make sure to get an oil change before each race.

  1. 2) Picked hard tires to start the first race – not so much an error as lack of practice forced me into this conservative strategy. After my first good qualy lap I glanced over to see how far in the current standings this clean and smooth lap I just pulled off advances me up the leaderboard from dead last only to not see my position not change and I’m still 2 seconds off the pace. Wholly fuck what is going on here I’m thinking, I’m sure I’m not this bad. Did however provide what I think (for me anyway) was my ultimate strategy of inter tires (see #3) on the first stint (~18-19 laps) followed by race soft. In any case the race hard proved to be a fun strategy as I went 21 laps on the hard and my brand new race soft tires for my second stint were in much better shape than literally everyone in front of me and I gained about 4 positions (well spread out positions) over the last 6 laps clearly the most fun of the night.
  2.
  3. 3) Ready to start the second race and feeling good about things as I clearly wasn’t 2 seconds behind the field and very confident of my race strategy, thinking a podium is a realistic goal if I race well. So it was slightly odd starting forward in the grid and having a good turn one I was in second place heading into turn 2 so when I found myself near last place after a couple of laps I was slightly caught off guard but chalked it up to competitive racing no big deal I’m still in touch with the cars ahead and my strategy hasn’t fallen apart yet. By about lap 7 I was clearly losing more ground when I noticed how bad shape my tires were and when I started lap 10 I couldn’t believe my left front was down to 3. I went 21 laps with hard in race 1 and my left front just turned to 3 on lap 21 so why am I now at 3 after lap 10 with inters? And that’s when I realized I had inter wet tires on and because I still had so many laps to go coupled with the on-line race bug of tires dropping off considerably quicker after your first pit stop the race hard tires I switched to weren’t going to last 17 laps so I had to pit a second time, threw on some soft tires and, as Church put it, assisted the race winner with some drafting assistance over the few laps, you’re welcome.

Overheard during the race (paraphrased)…”fuck there’s a lot of bullshit corner cutting.”

Parcells seen a fair bit of this as well, but on yesterday’s track more using the generous corner exit runoff areas to keep your momentum going vs. braking sufficiently for the turn. Setting the penalties option to “low” or “high” will penalize people for doing this and I would recommend we implement it for the next race as Spa has all kinds of corners to cut or runoff areas to abuse. Generally speaking if you do not keep at least 2 tires on the track/kerb the game will force your car to travel at a slow speed for x seconds (usually between 5-20 depending on the severity) at which time your car is ghosted before you gain complete control again. 2 tires on the track at all times isn’t too much to ask is it?

Iam all for penalties :)  it will make things even more interesting!

Aslong as it not super strict as it would suck if you got pushed off track by another and got penalized while they continue on.  I think it would be best to setup a test server and run the different strengths to see how they respond.   My .02

+1

mechanical damage? I think both will help to eliminate the no fear racing and make everyone become more aware of there surrounding, actions and respect the car more. As iam all for everything it might be starting to get a bit over whelming for some with all these options, and we might want to address any concerns some might have before implementing any more.  Also I think we need to all collaborate and do a gt6 write up on on the ingame features and clearly identify which each does, even iam out to launch on a few and would be a great learning tool for everyone :)
