Quick question... Is there some sort of painting help thread on the forum? I did a search and it didn't reveal anything helpful. I've always enjoyed painting on Forza, but most of my custom paints are super simple. I need to upgrade my skills so I can get these ideas out of my head and onto some cars!

Well one thing I wonder about is when I do a paint job, I use a lot of store bought vinyl groups to use such as sponsor decals and certain other things that I don't know how to create from scratch. This obviously locks the design so I can't put it on my SF and share it. Do you guys make everything from scratch? I know a good design can take a long time, but if that's the case, then DAMN!
I love replicas. I just want to be able to make my own fitted to cars of my choice, and with my own personal touch.
i have tons of manufacture logos is you want them... FOR FREE!!!!!!! in those there are vinyl groups of all kinds of stuff just say u wamt them and boom ur that close to designing ur own masterpeice... i work tomorrow but when i get off ill send u them

Start with something simple, logos with a background are easier to make, eg red logo on black background, with this you not only have the red to make the logo but you can use black shapes to help cove mistakes or overlaps etc. also when gr8one sends you over some of his they will be unlocked, load them up in create vinyl group and look how the were made. Also play with skew this is a great tool. And gradients can give you that 3D look.

After, and I stress, after you've played a while and are getting more comfortable, start to look at things with the attitude "how can I do that with less layers?". But not until you're getting comfortable with your results first.
Also, Monkey says backgrounds are easier, and he's right, but if you can do it without a background it is more versatile to use and will be more desirable on your storefront.
Also, if you group your layers as best you can by color, it makes it much easier to grab it later, change the color to match your current car, and on to the next!
And when you feel like pulling your hair out, start making things with negative space, example, a number plate where the number itself isn't there, just the plate around it, so that the number is whatever the under lying color is. Very cool if you want a metallic number, or a number that has three or four blended colors underneath.

Cooter helped me out with some of my questions while driving tonight, cleared some things up for me.
I'm going to work on some of these ideas when I get some free time. I'll post up some results if all goes well.
