What tool pack do you have? If you have a full team membership or above you will recieve daily builds.  They reverted back to the old ui due to some bugs that were causing issues.

Is it just me or is the M3 E30 completely undriveable?

Yup something happened with the late fri update....some cars need ffb adjusting, start by hitting f1 on the track select ffb or vehicle one of the 2 a screen will open with ffb tweaked raise the bottom one from 2 to 2.5 to start it will allow you to feel the the tires and it will add grip

The ups and downs of betas...I tried running a few cars today that I enjoyed last week and I couldn't do anything with them :(

It's been a nightmare trying to record a clean lap in order I get onto the rank leader board, I basically had to crawl around with the E30, it was easier in the Lotus 49.

I forgot to mention don't pause or restart the session while in a session it's been reported by many that it screws up the ffb grip levels...you need to exit and start over if you do have this issue. E3 had tweaks done to the setup in today's build....cars I've been enjoying of late are the stock road cars, still tricky but decent

I did finally manage to get times recorded in the E30 and making the rank leaderboard (Rank being the perfect term for my current standings lol)

Alot of new stuff has been implemented in the past few weeks :)

cars getting some love with the tm and setups:

m3 gt3

mercedes gt3

z4 gt3

fc

m1

capri

lotus classic open wheelers

l4 and v8 racers

ffb: new off track ffb for sand, grass and different Tarmac textures....the m3 and Capri feedback are excellent and the most informative I've driven in any sim almost an overload lol

heres a link to set up your wheel properly as no ingame files have been configured till the STM is complete

http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?14001-How-To-Configure-your-wheel

tracks:

Dynamic track:

dynamic puddles, pooling , dry line and marble build up

new configurations added:

nuremburg gp has 2 more

the ring has 3 more stages

silverstone 2 more layouts

cali highway 3 more stages

sounds:

zonda

capri

stock car

l4 and v8 racer

m1

make little tip I came across to help alot with gaining fps....in steam under project cars/properties/launch options type in -skipcrowds it will eliminate the crowds ingame and iam currently running every tracks @ 60 fps on high settings everything on.

nic Hamiltons has really stepped up and contributed alot of important info regarding car physics and backing the community on certain issues and you can notice a difference on the ones he's tested....he's also been taking photos of rl tracks that are ingame while on tour with etcc/wtcc.  His photos of the finer details he focuses on for braking points when in the heat of battle are pretty awesome.....his newest ones will be of Monaco as him and Lewis just spent the week there.  Also alot of detailed info has come in from other racers to help with physics :)

one other interesting note, by the sounds of it tho not 100% confirmed SMS has reportedly open up the idea of modding :) but not till after release and it will be monitored by them so that mods  will match the current ingame quality .

ive been running mp races daily and it's slowly coming together and getting exciting/frustrating once the tm and wheel profiles are complete is when it will really take that step forward so if you see me on and wanna run some laps shot me a MSG!

This weeks focus testing is the:

Arial Atom 300 supercharged @ huesden compound uncomfirmed yet

Racer v8 @ Dubai gp with f3 match a tire

both cars feel pretty good out of the box so iam excited to see what testing and tweaking will bring it too :)

Todays update had a tweak in the gt slick compound that really brought it to life and eliminated a few issues....bumps dont feel as harsh and has a similar braking feel like iracing now :)

You probably wouldn't have been even if it did work :) .....you have deleted all your old files and switched to the steam version

EDIT:

this might help

http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?14052-How-to-install-new-BUILD...

http://forum.wmdportal.com/showthread.php?15417-Steam-startup-issue-blac...(build-523)-and-solutions

Iam sure this will be a hassle but to get the new physics updates to work properly you need to do this with each new build which is currently daily for team members +

so you might want to go into steam and set the  update to once a week or month

I update weekly via Steam.  I am really enjoying the weekly improvements and additions to the game.  Whether it be FFB and physics being upgraded on a car, and/or a new track, Project CARS is the gift that keeps giving.  It is actually becoming difficult for me to pick a car and track to run, since there are so many options from which to choose.  smiley

Done all that, feckin thing has never worked since it swithched to steam. I have just redownloaded the entire thing to try once more and get "dong" three blank sceens...not much of a gift more a waste of data and money for me. frown

Before doing the download you might wanna contact support at steam or pcars for hints...wouldn't want you to explode and use all your monthly data :)

I am not much help other than linking support threads....but I know some have had issues with launching when using any osd add ons like fraps etc...I know when I tested game stock car it crashed on load and support told me to turn off any osd and it worked

@ zero the little time they have spent working on the tm have made some big improvements, but still along way to go till its good but seeing the potential :)

also factor in the stuff still to be implemented..wip .heating and wear was just added this week.  Most of the tm feel like a cold tire in other sims and take a few laps to heat up....things will interesting once the tm is complete and they add continual track ffb, dynamic track, visual wear and track rubbering

I've been having some frustrating fun in the arial atom 300 and bac mono....hard as hell to contain those beast with no aero but a blast non the less....a lot of the open wheelers seem to be getting some attention of late

alot of good feed back coming from nic and Ben regarding physics and visuals.  Nic has started doing YouTube videos that I really enjoy so much easier to visualize what he's saying rather than reading a novel, he's also fast as hell ingame he's been posting top 5 times in the weekly physic testings and says he's holding back claiming the cars don't represent reality when on the edge and can't be pushed safely lol ?

Performance wise the game seems to be improving

one helpfull tip in steam library/pcars/properties/launch options type in -skipcrowds

eliminates the crowds and is a big fps saver :) personally I like it better without

Ah too late the download started three and a half hours ago and it's not even half way done...Given this will be a totally clean install it should work, I never had any issues prior to the steam swap over and I assume they have sorted all the original problems by now.

While I know I have never really been a fan of the game, it is as you say still early days, and I am still of the opinion it will get there. If nothing else it will sit between Forza at one end and rFactor at the other. The addition of Nick Hamilton can only help push the sim end of things to the better, and that more than anything is why I am interested in getting back to testing, I would like to see what he is able to add to the feel, because that is the thing that makes it or breaks it for me. I don't care how pretty it is, how many polys it's pushing or if the grass in long or short I want that feel in my wheel :)

i just remembered i had an issue when it first switched and a delete and clean install cured everything.

You and me will always be worlds apart in regards to feel and setup :)

for me theres more than physics and ffb that matter, if sounds and graphics are top notch the physics just has to have good realistic tire ffb, i dont care about feeling every pebal or having the wheel rip my arms off...just tire info as i get all the bumps through the buttkicker and all the extra effects dont feel natural to me....graphics i find are a big part as well....if i feel like iam driving a cardboard box that my son painted it really kills the emmersion.  I want it to look like iam there :)

In all honesty i really enjoyed the forza series, ya the physics and ffb strength couldnt compare to pc power but i think that the next gen consoles will close that gap.  What turned me off was t10 attitude toward criticism and lack of community envolvement to make the game better.  Now that ive ran the pc for a yr and a bit ive realized there was a lot of features i truely miss from the console, beining able to hop online and run with familiar faces for countless hrs every night or in a lobby and running for hrs with strangers, the creativity of building cars paints and series etc. seems now i spend a majority of my time running laps by myself preparing to run 1 or 2 races a week with only 7 or 8 other people :(

The main reason i support this project was the fact that they wanted the commmunities feedback and were willing to work with us and watch the it build.  Reading there game plan and seeing what they want to incorporate into the game hooked me as i realized it was everything i wanted and more from console and hardcore having the best of both :)

I also like that fact they brought a bunch of pro drivers on to help with physic feedback as ill take there info and trust it over hardcore simrace with no racing experience anyday!

and asides from the few that get selected to beta test theres never been a race game thats let you partake and voice your opion without getting banned, other devs only allow you to see the near complete content where here you get the pure ugly birth all the way the finished product, but alot of people dont get that and think that a new release is a finished product and jump on the hate wagon.  Even my testing with simbin all the stuff they give us is near complete were just there to test for bugs and imperfections/glitches

Hardcore/simcade i could care less what the die hards brand it as....i just want the best wow for countless hrs of mind numbing entertainment with friends

Heh I don't think we are as far apart as you think, remember what you said on another thread about my $500 wheel, I honestly think you had a point. I tried my fave sim with my CSR the other week, same more or less as your Porshe with a lighter rim. Nothing like the Elite, lost a lot of the subtle FX I am used to, and yes I do like to feel the car, how the hell can you drive if you cant. Yesterday I was grinning like an idiot lapping a track under test in the Megans. Counter steering as I felt the loss of grip in the rear. I am far from the only one that thinks this is simply the best FFB in sim racing. But that is with the Elite, not the same at all with the CSR. I haven't tried pCars in a while, so I am hoping to find some of the same in the more advanced cars.

Remember ISI also use real racers, team data and all that jazz, not only that they supply F1 teams with their simulators...Not exactly Jonny come lately. They are a tiny team and split between their Pro software and team commitments and Rf2. As for input? Apply to join the beta team, and job done...But you can only commit to so much test time so it's cool, I'll keep you posted on that, you keep me posted on Simbin and Pcars

SMS do communication better, no argument there, ISI are the worst...One of the reasons Tim invited me to join the test team was my constant harping about communication on the forum. And you have a go at getting banned off their forum...man there are some folk I wish they would ban.

Ultimately it is down to having the craik with mates, as you say. I'll drive any sim the folk I enjoy racing with drive...FFS I buy tracks and cars for iRacing I will only drive a few times a year with GBR...Sigh yer know what? I just want someone to finish one, give me a BTCC cars and tracks and we could shut the fuck up an race :)

Yup got that advice on the forum and it has done the trick..So much for the uninstall, do wish programmers would make sure they didn't leave stuff behing like that. Cheers mate had I not been on the forum you would have solved it there.

Had a quick fly around Silverstone, first in the Focus...no change to that it seems. Then the BMW, not great. What is in your opinion the car that is best at the moment to show the advances in FFB and Tires since I last tested.

To start go to control options and set ffb to 100 and tire force to 40

the cars I enjoy are the m3 gt3 on softs or med

arial atom 300 tricky as hell but fun on default

chatam sp 300.

v8 racer and ruff have really good overal effects but haven't had any updates to tm yet I believe

the fwd 4 bangers haven't been touched yet and well.....are terrible lol

at this point pretty much all the base setups suck and need tweaking.

from what I understand there doing passes on each car and will revisit each car multiple times adding knowledge as they go, it's all really complicated and takes some forum reading to understand where there at....basically what your feeling is the new tread flash and carcas flex than the internal tire will be implemented once that's sorted basically the tire shell if iam correct

Reminds you why we went to consoles don't it, no way back now though, ha ha. Not even tried to get Race Room going again, they pissed me off by letting me download 8 gigs on one day and then going open beta the next and meaning I had to do it all over again, pissed me off so much I have never fired it up since.

Still Kurupt is keeping an eye on that one, so if it becomes a must have...and lets face it we do tend to have every sim going, I'll go back to it when it's finished.

Funny though Steam and Sims don't seem to get along, Race 07, pCars, and Raceroom all have or had issues. Be most interesting to see what happens to iRacing when it makes the switch

I came across something today while testing that seems to have helped alot in overal feel!

As ive noted before that the wheel profiles are not currently sorted and tire force is an issue and most are told to lower it to 30-40% which in some cars gives little to no feel or causing the car to slide and basically ruin the experience :(

well i noticed there was a custom wheel profile and a custom low end wheel profile, I choose the custom wheel and set it up and found i was able to run the ffb at 75 and tire force at 75 and it felt ALOT better than the 911 profile i should have used, it eliminated that front end turn in slide and made cars that felt lighter alot heavier and gave them a better weight feel.

Not the cure is its still early but better than before in my case.....curious to see if other wheel users will find it better?

This weeks physics tests are:

Chattam classic at bolgona

Chattam sp 300 at derby

both feel pretty good for a first pass the classic is a bit trickier as it runs on a performance street tire, the 300 is glued to the right and takes a bit to figure out the right line and get the most out of all that grip without cooking your tires :)

Mclaren f1 and gt3 mp got added to the game today!

from what I've read on the forum they seem to be a really good first pass, nice to see the mp in the gt3 class added that class is really coming together :) I'd really like to see the lms r8 added

Pcars has taken a big step in the right direction with the last few builds!

physics wise they have just released the first pass of there new flexi carcass tire, tweaking of the compound will be in thurs build but a very good intro and similar to the same state as Ac in feel.

as of now the new ffb and flexi carcass are only available to the gt cars and prototypes

new ui, lots of optimization to graphics and performance as I've been able to crank up the visuals a bit and getting a nice 60+ fps :)

new official sponsors Panasonic, nvidia and oculus rift

and a new physics consultant has been added to the team.....pro driver Oli Webb

few current bugs:

zonda causes a ctd

some wheels might experience a lose dead zone.

after nice video they have noticed that steering inputs and wheel reactions need to be worked on as some cars have too much of a turning result which isint realistic

altogether a nice update, make sure to delete your CARS folder located in c:/users/my docs before launching the game, and re calibrate your settings save exit game and relaunch
