Any animal lovers?

My wife and I have been searching the Net for a certain cat breed/breeder here in Indiana but all we seem to find is BS pop up sales or someone trying to link you to a rescue page, not that I'm against that. Question is does anyone know of a good Pet Breeder Directory?

Years ago when we were cat shopping I used this link to find a breeder: http://www.breedlist.com/index.html

We were initially looking for a Siamese kitten and visited a couple of breeders. We eventually purchased a "retired" adult - a 2 year old, Chocolate Point Siamese and he's been the best cat. He will be 10 years old in March.

What breed are you looking for?

Don't be afraid to travel for the right pet. We did about 10 hours of driving the day we picked up our meezer...lol

Oh and get references. The reputable breeders will have customer references.

Looking for an Eygtian Mau. I have a seven year old Main Koon and he needs a kitten to kick his ass. Sadly I had to bury the first cat we ever had on Black Friday (indeed) this past Nov,we had him for eighteen years. After awhile I did a little research into Cat breeds and found out the Mau is thought to be linked back to original breed of domesticated cat and the only domestic cat with spots. That just sounds interesting to me. Thanks for the help!

If you can find a breeder that is registered with an organization like AKC for dogs then that is the way to go.  Depending how rare the breed of cat is I bet you will have to look outside of Indiana.

The Mau is a beautiful breed. I have a friend that has a Mau mix and the spotted coat is pretty cool.

Good luck in your search.

I have a purebred Bengal who was a rescue. Unless you require papers for putting the cat in shows, breed specific rescues have great cats and kittens. My Bengal was six months old when we got her, and has no issues or problems from being a rescue. Just throwing it out there: there are perfectly good, amazing pets of all breeds out there that need homes. If you go with a breeder, PLEASE check out their "facility" as much as possible. If the place is a mess and the cats look unhealthy or miserable, walk away. Check their name online for reports or complaints. The last thing you want is to get attached to a pet then have to watch it get sick or worse. Especially after your recent loss.

Could not agree with you more ZK! If I found a Mau Rescue I would go with that any day. Refering my OP I mentioned rescue pop up but it would be in Oklahoma etc. Cant travel THAT far. We also looked at Bengals, you have an awsome cat. I may even end up with a random rescue who finds me ya know.

Bengals are awesome. She thinks she's a dog, and growls if someone comes to the door lol.

I get what you're saying about travel constraints. I was throwing it out there as a general reminder to everyone ;) Some people aren't aware that they can find purebred rescues that aren't sick or uncontrollable.
