BioWare: Working On PS3 Title?

How important are exclusives again? Bioware, typically working on PC games and now Xbox 360 games, has decided to work the PlayStation 3 angle as well...

Typically, Bioware builds PC games. Their two upcoming titles, Dragon Age (PC) and Mass Effect (360) are two titles for Microsofts camp.

In January, it was rumored that Bioware was working on a PlayStation 3 title, but nothing could be confirmed. However it seems now that Bioware is indeed working on some PS3 title.

We've yet to clear up what that title will be but it won't be for a Microsoft platform - that's known. Other speculation says that Bioware is using this tactic to help bring about a Microsoft acquisition of the company in order to keep them Microsoft-specific.

Would that help or hinder Bioware in future game titles? It is unclear. What else is unclear? Why anyone is speculating this acquisition rumor at all without any real facts. It does bring up a good point of discussion...

Would it be cheaper to purchase a company straight out over buying the rights for a specific title as an exclusive? An exclusive title will is a "win" situation for that title but now you must pony up more cash to keep other future titles from a popular development studio on your platform. If you buy them - all titles are yours to have (i.e. Bungie Studios).
