Dangerous Web Domains

Companies that assign addresses for Web sites appear to be cutting corners on security more when they assign names in certain domains than in others, according to a report to be released Wednesday by antivirus software vendor McAfee Inc.

McAfee found the most dangerous domains to navigate to are ".hk" (Hong Kong), ".cn" (China) and ".info" (information).

Of all ".hk" sites McAfee tested, it flagged 19.2 percent as dangerous or potentially dangerous to visitors; it flagged 11.8 percent of ".cn" sites and 11.7 percent of ".info" sites that way.

Memorial Day

Please excuse the drunk fest which will eventually become this blog.  I envy the people who can write coherently.  The blog here should be a complete specimen.  A start a middle and an end.  However - tonight I am not feeling that way.  I will instead assume the personnae of XSSmoke - whom writes the blog in a special way that makes sense to me and maybe many others...

I was in the Army from 1990-1994.

I was in the Military Police Corps.

I went to 3 funerals in those 4 years.

2 were from "action" and 1 was from a DUI.

Hypermiling - a new 21st Century Term for Common Sense

It has a fancy name - and could save you thousands on your gas... what is it?  Well, it's basically common sense.  It's been touted in many "upstanding" news articles and the only reason it's getting news is because of the gas prices.

Hypermiling:

For example, using the air conditioner at highway speeds had no appreciable effect on fuel economy compared to rolling down the windows.

Keeping your tires properly inflated, while important for safety, has only a small effect on fuel mileage, according to Edmunds.com's tests.

Twine Invite-only Beta

What is Twine?  Basically - it helps sort information on the web based on your interests.  Why is it different?  It goes through your already saved bookmarks and helps find things based on what you already like.

From the web site:

Twine is a new service that helps you organize, share and discover information around your interests, with networks of like-minded people. You can use Twine individually, with friends, or with groups, teams and communities.
