Adventures in streaming continued

I eagerly arose this morning to check to see if the DVD was finally ripped and discoverd that the AVI file was created successfully! Yay!!! I copy it over to the NAS, fire up the XBox and THERE IT IS!!! I play it and the xbox shows "Opening.....".

A minute or so later I get "Lost connection with PC". WTF? I try it again, and get the same error. I had to get ready and go to work so I had to give up until tonight.

The Xbox as a Streaming Media Platform - Part II

What a giant PITA I've had over the past few days trying to get this to work. If you don't have a Media Center PC (I don't), then you have to use Windows Media Player 11 to share your media with the Xbox 360. Although I setup media sharing in WMP11 and added the mapped drive of my NAS to the library, the 360 would not see it. WMP11 would see the media just fine but the 360 would only see the media on the PC's HD.

The Xbox as a streaming media platform

The xbox as a streaming media platform.

Recently I picked up a NAS (network attached storage). These devices are becoming more popular as they drop in price (you can get them for under $100). I got one so I can access my data from any computer in the house. Previously I had an external USB drive but that would require that the PC it was attached to be on and the drive shared if I wanted to access it from my laptop. What a NAS boils down to is an always on standalone computer with a HD inside.

Just kidding, Lux....

I was just browsing one of my favorite sites, fark.com , and came across this ad.  I posted it because I wanted LuxDevil's head to explode.....

Left4Dead

I love this game and have been playing it pretty much constantly since its release.  Tonight I got the ZOMBIE GENOCIDEST achivement!!!

That's 53,595 zombies!  I just noticed that the game was released on November 18th, that means it took me 2 months to get it, exactly.  That's almost 900 zombies a day.....

And to think my wife laughs at me for preparing for the Zombie apocalypse.....

Christmas disappointment

I wonder how many kids are going to be disappointed this Christmas. I've seen this ad on the TV and when I stopped into Big Lots, it was very prominently displayed.

I'm sure there are pleny of stupid ass parents that only see that GH3 is <$50 and buy it......
