Farewell and Godspeed

I got the packaging for my XBox 360 last night, so after a few final games I packed it up. This morning I shipped it back for repairs. I couldn't shake the nagging feeling that I was dropping it into some kind of bottomless pit from whence it may never return.

For the one or two of you that HAVEN'T had to do this, you get a nice clean white anonymous-looking box. Nowhere on it does it say Microsoft or XBox. I presume the theory is that if the public at large KNEW you were shipping a broken XBox, they would want to steal it.

Whoo-hoo!

God bless my poor limping XBox, it hung together long enough for me to finish Rainbow 6 Vegas tonight.

And I must say after the incredibly annoying cliffhanger ending of R6V, I'm glad it's coming out in just two more days.

Not my baby! Anything but that...

Well, I finally did it. I logged onto the XBox Online Repair system and  requested a box to ship the poor thing back for repair.

It's taking more and more tries to get the damn thing to run, and I ended up corrupting my profile AGAIN last night. This time I saved it to the flash card I bought (Hey, I found a use for it!). Once it's up and running, it runs like a champ. But it takes a half-hour to get it going, recover my gamertag, and log in.

1. Turn off the console.

2. Remove the hard drive.
