My take on Homefront

I was disapointed in the single player campagin. They did a good job of telling the story and engaging my emotions as I was shown the brutality of the N. Korean occupierers. However, the AI of my squadmates was irritating. They would block me from moving, and the levels had plenty of things for my character to get his feet caught on. I got stuck on a clothes line of dirty clothes, a tricicle, small bushes, a flower bed... irritating. Geting all of us through a turnstile or up a ladder was a matter of standing back and waiting for everyone to mosey up and get out of the way so I could take a turn. I must have died 30 times at the end of the last level, and I found it anticlimactic when it was over.

Multiplayer has more promise. I can tell this is where they put most of their energy, Much smoother maps. No AI. The weapons feel good and are fun to use. I didn't feel like I was being cheated out of kills (Bullshit! I know I shot that guy!) I enjoy using the drone to spot for my teamates. Vehicles are a little clunky but still lots of fun to drive. The maps are HUGE, I love that feeling of free movement.

Getting into a game is a little difficult, they need to iron out the kinks with the dedicated servers, The scroll bar at the bottom of the join game screen says, "We are experiencing higer than anticipated use, be patinet while we bring more servers online."  That should have been done last week, I'm sure their  pre orders gave them a good indication of the comming demand. However, once you are in a game everything is solid and the connection stays put.

I can't wait to get into a room of 2o2p folks for some 32 player action. The potential for specialization, teamwork and communication are huge.

I'll be skipping the single player missions from now on.

Totally agree with all the SP sentiments. The ladders, the people in doors, the retardly slow-walking are all problems.

I couldn't even get into a MP game last night after trying for about 20 minutes, though I could see a couple of people on my friendslist playing. Even tried joining them and most were in full rooms. Hope they get this ironed away soon as Crysis 2 comes out next week.
