What happens after?

Something has been on my mind for a few months now, Writing about it will probably get me put on some goverment watchlist (Note to the goverment guys with the sunglasses, and earpieces who are reading this, I wish no harm to anyone, and am only questioning human reactions in "what if" scenarios. Please do NOT kick in my door with guns drawn)

I really don't care to debate who would do a better job as president. What I want to know is... how will people react if whoever is elected dies?

McCain seems so old and of questionable health to me, if he dies and Palin becomes president, Do people celebrate because we can now say have a female president? Many in the womens rights movement are Democrats (my perception, perhaps an erroneous one) How do they feel about that? Is it still a victory for the movement? Is a time of national crisis the time to celebrate? Even secretly?

Obama is even more interesting. There are plenty of racist nut cases in this country, in the North and South. If he gets assasinated, a white guy becomes president. How do people react? Would the world media cast the States in a bad light? Would there be riots in the streets like after the Rodney King verdict? Or lots of black/white tension like after the OJ simpson trial (the first one, not the second. Man what a circus that guys life must be)

I really (sadly) think that there is a good chance the V.P. will assume the presidency, whoever is elected.  What happens then?

Let me help you becoming a POI for the CIA, FBI, DEA, IRS, MRS, NSS and your local Hell's Angels... Everybody knows you're a recruiter for Al-Quida, the Red May, The Sandinista's, Foreign Legion, the PLO and the Muhjaheddin. I'm not mentioning the Righteous Jihad, because by now that shouldn't be a secret for those agencies anymore. Didn't you tell me you always lie on your yearly taxes? Oh, the next batch of drugs will be mailed to you hidden amongst the 125 Chinese illegal immigrants you promised to take of my hands. There, that should do it! =))

Ya it's a tough one. McCain has like a 30% chance of dieing in the first term and like a 75% chance in the second term or something like that. And i sure as HELL don't want Palin as president. She's even more unqualified than Bush and look what a clusterfuck of a president he turned out to be. Then Obama even though he's young and spry, if we were ever going to have another presidential assassination, it would probably be Obama simply because he's black. he'll need a record breaking amount of secret service around him the entire time he's president. But if he were offed, that would leave Biden as president and he may as well be McCain! It's a fucked fucked situation. W e can't wen.

If McCain croaks and Palin becomes president, it doesn't count (in my opinion). As much as I would like to see a female president in my lifetime, I want to see her actually elected to the spot. And Palin just isn't the right choice for that anyway. As far as Obama. That's a tougher call. He's done a pretty damn good job not making race a factor in his campaign. I "forgot" about the color of his skin a while a go. I'm sure there are nut jobs out there that can't say the same thing though.

I am going to have to agree with Tdrag on the Palin thing. It would be great and all to have a woman in the top position, but she wouldn't have earned it like a Pres. candidate would have. The Hilary supporters not only supported that she was a woman running, but also supported her policy...and Palin is just no where near the same playing field.

I hate Palin. I'd rather see her die. (No government guys come banging on my door, either, I'm just saying.) I agree with TDrag; I don't see a black man running for president, just another candidate. I think he's done an excellent job not playing the race card. (I think McCain/Palin are definitely playing the woman card, though; nothing more than a political ploy.) It's sad we have to actually consider the possibility of Obama being assasinated simply because he's black. You'd think in this day and age we would have evolved past all that BS. Even scarier than that, though, is the religious freaks. I'm so sick of hearing people say they're scared of Obama because they think he may be the Antichrist. The Antichrist is going to be a clone of Jesus, not Obama. I hope everything works out for the best, but it seems like every time you turn around there's something else to worry about.
