Who are you?

I've never been a huge fan of Doctor Who, though I appreciate the impact its had on science fiction in general.  I think part of the problem, at least for me, is the idea of different actors portraying the same character.  I think it's a more common practice in the UK (James Bond, anyone?) and it's central to the premise to the show, but it was hard for me to imagine anyone but Tom Baker in the role for the longest time.

Even though I grew up seeing  Baker in the role I have recently had to acknowledge that he has been replaced, in my mind, as the best Doctor.  David Tennant, the tenth Doctor, gets my nod at this point.  I got interested in the series again in 2005 when Christopher Eccleston reprised the role as the 9th doctor, but I never quite got into it.  It just clicked a bit more for me after Tennant took over.

Anyway, thoughts?  Who's the greatest Who?

i agree with Automan21k. I hared it when Christopher Eccleston was booted and didn't like David Tennant at first bet he grew on me. In the end I thoght he was great. As for Matt Smith I don't know. I havn't watched this season yet even though I have them all on my DVR. I'm going to have a Dr Who week soon. (like shark week but not)

I have, in my short 30 years, come to know a great many 'real' Punks/Anarchs and Goths and I have to say they are among the most -amazing- individuals I have ever gotten a chance to meet in this existence. Keep holdin' it down, Auto. And stay -real-. IE- remain -yourself-. Good man for posting this. -Judo

@ judo I love Anarchists...they are incredible people to talk to, their minds connect things that are absolutly amazing...and the way some of them work out plans in how the world would survive in anarchy....I'm more of a moderate....give me a smaller, less "hands on" government and I'll be happy.

If you were a true punk and you don't care what others do...then why do you care if people are commercial punks?

PS---I didn't mean for that to sound like a slam... It's actually a question I have wondered about...I have a friend that considers himself a true punk, and he gets mad at other punks who get upset with the commercialization of punk. He just does what he does, and enjoys the music...

@hilsike - I don't mind the question, its one of the things that defigns me as me....the idea is that you do what you want because it's you...the commercialized punks, 90% of the time, do it to piss off their parents or for some kind of gratification they get from people avoiding them...I don't like them because they don't do it for themselves, and they give us a bad name in the process....I wouldn't even care about a bad reputation but when I am doing my thing, I get parents stopping me and telling me to get a job, or to grow up, or just cursing me out for the heck of it.....then there are the com-punks themselves thinking that because they dress like me they are just like me,...so basically...it annoys me.

oh, and the idea of punk is to think for yourself, they swallow what they are given...if your thing is to be a sheep and blindly follow, then you better not follow me, there's one of me in the world, and that's enough.

With how much I liked Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant grew on my quite a bit, but overall, I think Matt Smith rapidly took over as my favorite Doctor. (after all, Bow ties are cool)

I watched it growing up and saw the three doctors in the upper right corner of which Tom Baker was my favorite. The douchy looking guy, middle right made me loose interest in the show and I never came back. Though i have recently seen a few shows with the Billie Piper or whatever her name was, she was kinda hot. But in general the show was the same as what I grew up watching for the most part. Same bad FX and acting, weird stories... Just doesn't appeal to me anymore.
