I have always wanted to ride motorcycles.

In 1986 something bad happened. I looked at the cover of Cycle World and saw the Yamaha FJ1200. Ever since I have been hopelessly enamored with motorcycles. The fact that I lived in Houston made getting one all but impossible. I know a lot of people who own motorcycles in metropolitan areas, I just know I wouldn't want to be one.

Once I moved to the more rural part of the world that I live in now I found my opportunity. For a year I had a friends Kawasaki KLR650 dual-sport. A little too heavy for serious off-road excursions for someone of my skill level but, a great bike to learn on. And then it happened. The same buddy needed help getting a couple of his other motorcycles from storage in Denver. A Kawasaki 1500 Vulcan and a Kawasaki Voyager. I rode with him and his wife to Denver where we picked up he bikes. We rode the near 800 miles back in one trip only stopping for gas. A short chunk of it was through the Black Hills of South Dakota. If you haven't had the pleasure of riding through the Black Hills, I highly recommend it. Nothing in my head but wind, engine and my own thoughts. When I got back home at about one in the morning I was more relaxed than I had been in years. The closest to care free I could ever hope to be.

My buddy had to move and his KLR was sold. I have been without a motorcycle for near two years and I'm feeling it. I have too many other financial obligations to want to finance my own as yet. I'm hoping that in the next year or two I'll be able to take that leap. Especially since someone now makes what I have always thought would be perfect for me. The Kawasaki Concourse 14.

You may have noticed a pattern. All of the motorcycles I've ever ridden have been Kawasaki. That doesn't men that I prefer them, it just turned out that way. I have also heavily considered bikes from Honda (the St1300 is still a serious contender) and Yamaha. Harley has even been briefly considered (just not my cup man).

Nope, the Concourse 14 seems perfect. Check it out here... http://www.kawasaki.com/Products/Detail.aspx?id=220 .

There, short and sweet.

Buy a dual-sport motocross and get a few model rocket kits. BANG, instant Norris-mobile.

That's a bad looking ride! I've always wanted the one from Delta force. With missiles on the front.
