Shared on Sun, 02/17/2008 - 23:44I have been without my Xbox for about a week now and I'm not sure I will make it.
My skin is starting to get some color back and I can remember my childrens names once again.
My wife realizes that I was not dead after all, she grieves anew.
I haven't shot anybody in the face or fragged anything lately, the withdrawals are brutal.
I have been watching the Home and Garden Channel with my wife. She calls it bonding.
.... I have a question. I've asked my wife this and her reasoning was fairly logical but, why the hell are there so many gay couples on HGTV? It grossly overruns the actual ratios. My wife says it's because these shows get applications from potential participants. That says to me that mostly gay guys and middle aged women watch them. That walll treatment WAS kind of nice...
... somebody shoot me.
I have tracked my Xbox through UPS. Team Brown says that they will be delivering it to the repair center on 02-21. Thursday. So, what can Team Brown do for me? How about HURRY THE FUCK UP!!!..... oh, there are my meds.
The Discovery Channel had a show on concerning the recent attempts by research scientists to remap bird DNA to "reactivate" certain dormant traits left over from their less than friendly "Thunder Lizards" stage. I had a question about that as well. Why?
If your only reason for doing a thing is "because I can", it probably is a bad idea. Now if that "because I can" moment involves you climbing a mountain where you may hurt yourself and possibly provide video the rest of us can laugh at repeatedly, that's okay. But, If your "because I can" is recreating something that would find great pleasure in eating peoples faces off, please stop. My wife told me that a lady that posts on one of the chat boards said the following, "they can afford an education but not a Michael Crichton novel?" Exactly.
I've noticed a lot of TV I was missing. Watched some show about big cats (Lions and shit not your girlfriend's tabby). It was interesting. The only WTF moment came near the end when they started talking about the "Liger". It's a super-cat crossbreed of a female tiger and a male lion. It apparently makes a mutant that weighs twice as much as either a full grown Tiger or Lion. Once again, Why would you do that? Now of course they say that it's extreme size would make it's survival difficult when competing in the wild. That didn't give me much comfort. After all, when you think about OUR chances against a large hyper-carnivore that weighs in excess of 1000 pounds, I don't think I'm going to be worrying about it's ability to track and chase down a water buffalo.
I did try and play my Playstation 2. Wow, I didn't realize how much it sucked before. I mean, the games are okay just not like I've grown accustomed. Gran Turismo 3 was okay and it looked pretty good. Socom 2 was alright but a so slow paced it was annoying. I sold my copy of Black (a game I loved) in order to buy Call of Duty 4.
I miss my blades.
I realize I'm rambling but I think it's symptomatic of how much I am missing my 360. And it also points out how dependent I had gotten on it. I mean, I was spending a lot of my free time playing games or watching movies / TV. I was relying on it for nearly ALL of my relaxation after work or on days-off. Not that I was isolating myself. Most of the people I play with are in my area. The ones that aren't I play with so much they might as well be.
Even so, I can't wait to get it back, television sucks.
ETA: Microsoft now has my 360. They say it usualy takes 2 business days to "repair or replace". Cool.
