Contest Voting (The Circle of Nine)

For those that are curious about the writing contest:

Im building a list of associates that I know will rank the articles justly, and will do it promptly with good results.  They are people that Ive worked with on the magazine, some editors, and some people that value the opinions of others.

Once these folks (I will call them the circle of nine) are finished with their ranking I will tally the ranks into the top-5 best articles by weighted rank.  Once I have those, we will move on to bringing in the general public to vote upon the best of the best, and take it from there.  More on the second stage once I get the results from the first stage.

Why so long?  I had to get some time to collect all the articles, validate that they all worked (from my mail download), get a few that failed to transfer correctly or had issues, and Ive now got them all.  Im stripping the names out, and packing them up for the circle to read and get back to me with results.

Stay tuned.

PS: A little more then half of the sign-ups came in, so if you passed it in you are competing against 23 others, not 40+ as originally signed up.

Im not suprised by the turn out. The due date was during the 4th of July weekend. I had to rush my article to get it out to a couple of previewers to check. Didnt hear from them till late sunday and monday morning. I was even suprised at that being a holiday weekend. At least now there will be plenty of material for upcoming mags too :) Good luck everyone.

See what happens when you look in the editor's blog. You learn something! It will be interesting to see if I do not come in last....

Most of the writers that cancelled out (those I got responses from) were not vacation related. Biggest reason: "oops, I forgot I signed up for that", followed by working hours, busy family, etc. I only heard from probably half those that failed to turn it in, others went silently into the dark -CM
