What a pain in the ass, the scratches are not superficial and I've not been able to get them out. Microsoft will feel my wrath for this one...
And yes, I've heard a lot of rumblings amongst the Internet community with this issue. Some seem to be a waxy substance while others are real scratches - probably depends on how far down the read head was when it caused the issue to occur. Dunno, but its the suck.
