Shared on Thu, 08/10/2006 - 13:15All those involved with issue #5, and for those that were waiting patiently for us to get this thing out the door.
The illustrations from Darth Cestual and BATMANKM worked great for this issue, and Gatsu Godhand is helping us with a few custom illustrations inline. Next issue I'll be trying to get a few more out of him, once I have some of our featured articles ready. He did our "Frogger" review title header (although we had to crop it a bit to fit it in the title header), and our "drunk mario" in the "2o2p True Hollywood story" - where he is passed out with Toad after too much "mushroom juice."
I would like to thank edd9139 for his ability to write articles quickly and with quality. He's typically the first to send in his final submissions (like one or two days after its assigned) and help out editing as well. He lives "down under" in Australia so his timezone is slightly different than mine (by 12 hours!) - we still manage to keep in constant contact througout the lifecycle of an issue.
For those that don't know, our articles have a series of editors - I call my two lists alpha-editors and beta-editors. I round-robin the articles through my two lists, and then filter that through one person: bigeks. He does the final look over and corrections. This is a great help to me because I find myself merging two to six edits into a single document. If I had to read each one again the magazine would take months to get out. His work covers the full range of fixes, grammar, structure, consistency, and "stupid merge errors" (a double comma here, a double quote there...).
TANK was nice enough to publish articles, reviews, news, AND wrote up the "in stores now" release list at the back of the magazine. I was doing this "half ass" to get something into the magazine at the last minute but TANK does it right ;-) Big thanks.
To the rest of you folks that have taken the time to send in articles or hack apart other peoples articles: hats off. It is a bitch of a job to do that every month so each hand helps speed the process up.
Thanks to doodi and dsmooth for getting up a digg, and updating the site information with the new issue.
Issue #6 has a few people working on some articles, however if you have something you want to write up, or a review of a product or game let me have it! This next issue will contain some of the contest write-up's as well. I have drosts votes, so tonight i'll be able to figure out our top contenders.
I also have a writeup from 2old2pwn that I want to get in, which covers their last LANFest. Of course, I'm going to need some 2old2con write-ups - and some photos.
I would love to get a few shots of people's faces and names to tag on to them so we can all see who you are (since I didn't get to make this lan).
