Shared on Thu, 09/20/2007 - 15:52As I'm sitting down in one of my interviews last week I get a call, many calls, then a few SMS's and it doesn't end. The phone is on vibrate so I don't have to annoy the folks performing the interview.
The interview was cake, five hours long but nothing too harsh. I've had worse. They seemed to be all on board with the crap I was telling them about myself...although I must admit, they spent more time talking about them and less about wondering how much stuff I knew about the job criteria. I found that odd.
So after the interview I get out and finally get back to the annoying calls. Three were from more folks wanting me to setup an interview time, one was from my CEO. So I talked with him, he wanted me to stick around and gave me an offer I couldn't really refuse.
So I'm moving out of Software Engineering and into Corporate Sales Engineer. I'll do a bit o' traveling, they want to hook me up I believe with some of the international areas in Germany (Munich) because I'm one of the only folks that has any chance of communicating with them. That sounds like fun.
On top of which, I'll be doing a little more free form software engineering with a focus on customer issues which isn't too different than the software I do daily anyway since it's not part of the main product.
In the end, I'm drinking the cool-aid... I'm staying with my old company and have called back everyone to call off any potential interviews and scheduled phone screenings.
Now, let's hope it was all worth it in the end :-)
