So, I finally beat Castlevania DS. Holy crap. So that was an awesome game, I recommend it to any hardcore "old school" Castlevania folks. And, if you beat it with the best ending you can play as one of the Belmonts in classic fashion. The UI changes to be like the older Castlevania I/II style games (rather then the menu screen final fantasy style), you only get a whip and the music is totally Ol' School 'Vania!

Now, I'm on to Final Fantasy III DS. I'll write up a review for the site when I make some more progress. So far I've only played it for 30 minutes or so and all I can say is "OH YEA BABY!" Old school Final Fantasy to the rescue. Classic music on the intro screen, normal turn-based play style with classic menu system and inventory screens.

They even have the Dragoon, Ninja, Black/White/Red wizards. This is going to be an awesome ride.

Oh yeah, I also picked up Viva Pinata (whatever I can do to help out the wifes game company! :-).

Lots to play, so few hours in the day.

PS: When they fix up CoD3's networking to be not "teh sux" I'll be back to play with all yall 2'old2players (they are going to make it actually work, right?)

Dawn of Sorrow was one of my favorite DS games. Can't wait for Portrait of Ruin coming up in a few weeks :)

*sigh* I really liked the start of Castlevania DS, but I cannot get passed that early boss, the one with the one big fist and so I kinda gave up on it. Tips?

I'm not sure what I used on him, but probably a couple kick ass souls. If you have the axe armor soul that might get you by without too much harm. What I did, closer to the end than the beginning was farm a few souls, I should have done that earlier. Basically, find an axe thrower guy, beat the crap out of him and any others of him, leave the screen and come back. Did that until I had 9 souls - but I did that at the end of the game (one hit one kill) so it was a bit different. Just having 1 soul is a good start. I fought him in the boss challange mode that you get after beating the ending of the game but I had some kick ass souls that killed him instantly :) The axe armor soul is good since it arcs nicely. Manticore soul is good too, if you have it. Not sure how far that boss is into the game. I'm sure I didn't do it just with swordplay alone. Healing potions is another good start :) I stock up 9 at all times - mainly for leaders. CodeMonkey

Coolers! I'll give it another shot, even if I have to go back to the store and get some more healing potions.
