Shared on Tue, 08/29/2006 - 13:25It seems my little writing contest has caused 2old2play some server stress over the last few days. Overall, I think the reception is great on our latest articles (article #2 hit the homepage on digg a bit ago).
This proves that our site has some of the most talented writers in the gaming community. I'm sure there are many others out there that have potential and just do not know it yet. I believe many of you would love to write but "can't" where "can't" directly translates to: being afraid. Most people that write for us the first time get a good response and never realized they could do it. Then I usually get an e-mail "that was fun, if you need anything else written just let me know." And believe me, I record each email address so I can hound you for content in the future :-)
I also understand some of you cannot write and you know it. That's fine too, but for those that are just not sure - try it sometime, and let me know what you wrote. The fact that we managed to get up on slashdot unprovoked is proof that our writing team (and if you've written for us in the past I consider you part of the "Team") is talented.
The editorials, news, and updates you guys provide help get eyes on our site, new members and recognization for the 25+ older community. I've looked at the figures on overal network traffic from our site against some of the competitors and its not even close. We're kicking ass on all avenue's and I am prepared to continue that trend at a higher pace once we get our new server up and alive.
Thanks again for all your support, a site is only as talented as its members. We've got tons of talent in writing, news gathering, artists, and (of course) gaming. If you cannot write or draw you tend to "pwn n00bs" in gaming. What a broad spectrum of power. Oh yeah, and site scripting too (that's for Dsmooth, he hates to be left out in the cold, and in New England it gets pretty cold - and he wears shorts year 'round).
