Shared on Wed, 06/18/2008 - 12:46So I finished reading Eddings' Belgaraid series again, one of the first fantasy series I actually read, and while looking through the book case for something new I came across this poem I had written tucked away in Wizard's First Rule by Goodkind. So I just thought I would share it and see what the masses think.
Every shadow has a source, a beginning,
yet shadows can be banished, chased away
Darkness can never truly be absolute
it is balanced, countered by the light.
The past has brought forth many shadows on my heart
the future, the light of possibilities
battles, struggles and pushes past the shadows
chasing them from memory, tatters to be ignored
Past loves, failures, anger, tragedy
weights all upon the heart and soul
never truly forgotten, a pall upon our vision
yet the future, the light, the love can bring hope
Darkness, pain, memories all quieting, fleeing
the hope of the future, true love blazing
lifting, striving, heart and soul awakening
shaking off the shadows, banishing the tatters
The light has found me, renewed me
love, everlasting, strengthening, binding
raising me above the past, beyond the shadows
a balance wrought, the darkness countered
A better vision sought, of you, and me
joined in light, future dreams beyond shadows
light can never truly be absolute
but balanced, countering, the light can bring peace.
On a side note. I am looking for something new to read so if anyone has some suggestions let me know. I typically stay in the fantasy realm, but I'm always willing to check out other areas if it can grab my interest.
