Lan Time = Stress Time

So the LAN is knocking on my door each and every day.  That means I have been in pretty much gut busting stress mode and will be until the LAN is over.  This year is proving to be no different as we now have a record breaking attendance of over 100 people (and still getting more everyday).  For the first time ever I may have to stop selling tickets before the actual event just to ensure we all have enough space! 


Im sure that excites a lot of you and to an extent it totally excites me too.  But going over inventory, making sure the site can afford it,  and getting the hotel to work with me and not against me like so many times in the past is a real pain.  Already they have stopped giving out the Thursday rate simply becuase they didnt expect so many people coming in so early.  I can say that really I didnt either but shutting down the group rate is proving to be a hassle to negotiate with. 


The inventory is a whole other tale as we will be having 65-70 LCD screens sent to us I seem to only be able to find 50 VGA converters for the 360's.  Dont ask me how these things get lost or stolen, but every year they do.  So now I need to go out and find 10-15 360 VGA  cable, 15 speakers, 22 converters, and recut and crimp miles of cables.  Actually I was all ready to do that yesterday but when I found out all the stuff I needed I pretty much just sat there for a hour and just staired at it all and watch a movie instead. 


It always works out in the end, but no matter how many times I do this I always go into this freak out mode 2 weeks before and into the LAN.  Yesterday seemed to mark day 1.  Welcome to day 2.

Yeah, the Thursday rate thing confuses the shit out of me. Even the woman at the hotel sounded confused as shit about how they could still have the group rate on Wed, Fri, and Sat, but not on Thursday....

Doodi..I specifically bought a a vga cable to bring to the lan ( I will be keeping it but it will be there to be used). So one down and 14 to go.\r \r I will keep my eye out for some more and let you know if I find them.\r \r Help is there for you douchehole...Let me know what I can do...

Yo Doodi. Me and several others are showing up on thursday from the chicago land area and would more than be willing to help set up! I personally won't be there till 7 p.m. as I have to work, but will be willing to lend a hand none the less. Lemme know!

I have a 360 VGA cable. That's a \"must have\" for any LAN.\r \r and FYI for everyone. I got a rate better than the LAN rate because of my Membership with Marriott Rewards. \r \r The military rate was terrible. Like $170.

Scratch one more VGA cable, I've got one too.\r \r Leave the CAT 5 cables up to the crew on hand again. It always gets done. I'm bringing a crimper and I think some others are too.\r \r Otherwise, suck it up and get 'er done buttercup. Tell the shiftleader to get someone else to work drive thru this weekend and bang it out you mary.

I'm bringing an entire setup. PS3, 360, LG monitor with vga and dvi connection, desktop speakers that have RCA inputs (you know how hard it is to find those!), an appropriate cables - vga cable, hdmi to dvi cable, rca cables. Most likely I will hook both the 360 and ps3 up. I don't think the ps3 will get use except for some of the down times.\r \r I will also be bringing my own network cables, a 4 port wireless router (I know a couple of PS3s will be there so wires not needed). If I can get my netgear 4 port openwrt router working I will bring that. \r \r I will also bring my network cable tester.
