When It Rains.....

So I pick this time in my life to go balls out on 2old2play. I'm spend what i consider to be a large amount of money, and i take out a tiny loan to do so. Im watching my bills, trying not to eat out, and saving what i can.

Tonight I'm staying in, doing my normal routine and I notice my dog is having trouble standing. He cant keep his head still and just seems to wobble. I wait a bit to make sure I'm not over reacting and he falls asleep. About 2 hours later my sister runs into my room in a panic, the dog can barley walk and is sliding around on the ground. Of coarse now its 10pm and there is no way we can wait for a vet in the morning.

$560 dollars and 5 hours later we still have no idea what is wrong with him and we are sent home to have him rest up. He had his stomach pumped, blood tested, Xrays, fluids, etc.... All i got was a, "Well he seems stable now and should be ok." Almost $600 and they can't tell me if my pup is going to be ok or not....

When it rains....

So we leave there feeling no better then when we came in and now $600 in the hole. I pull up to my condo at 1am and walk to the front door. On the way in I notice a ticket on my car door. $100 for street cleaning.

...it pours

sounds like symptoms of your dog being poisoned. if you havent already check under sinks or any other place your dog may have gone and see if containers have been chewed through, chewed open or spilt.

Brother, you know that I can feel your pain on this one. I hope the pooch is ok. I can assure you that shit may keep falling for a bit, but it WILL cease, if not sooner then later. Hang in there and let me know if I can help at all.

My sympathies about the dog and ticket. I've known people with bad luck. You're becoming a good fit with them. You live with your sister?

The next thing they will tell you is that they can get an MRI because it may be a spinal injury. Your call, but what they will tell you is that if it is the spine the surgery is extremely expensive. I have had 3 friends and my mother all have the exact same thing happen, they didn't get the surgery. Instead they crated their dog to limit the dog's movement, and they got better in a few months. It sucks watching your dog like that, but the price tag is nuts.

Damn Doodi that sucks, I hope Tank is fully well soon :( . That's pretty stupid that they charge you that much and still can't say what is wrong. As for the street cleaning, if they charge you that much they need to do a better job! lol

We had a pointer that we called million dollar mutt due to his frequent need to visit the incredibly expensive emergency vet. We discovered our emergency clinic was outstanding for puncture wounds, but sucked doggie balls at diagnosing regular illnesses or quirks that arise in older dogs. For instance, they once diagnosed a cancerous tumor, which amazingly, our regular vet cured with antibiotics. Short version, if you have a good regular vet, it might be worth a few more bucks to get a second opinion. Hope he’s back on his feet soon.

Ya i don't think you can go into a vet office these days without coming out 100 dollars lighter. It's ridiculous. I do google searches now for pet symptoms to see if it's something I can treat myself. My dog ripped the pad of her paw a month ago. I did some research on it via google and decided to put some neosporin on it and wraped it up in bandages and put a mitt over it. A week later she was walking fine again and i left the bandages off. I kow that would have cost me at least 300 bucks at the vet. But we dropped 800 bucks on our f'n cat this year already because he had hyperthyroid problems newly diagnosed.

Sorry J...I hope "The Tank" gets better...If the vets let him go home, they are probably confident enough he is through the worst of it...Keep an eye on your boy, he will pull through. Keep you head up. You know you have help it you want it.
