Shared on Mon, 03/21/2011 - 11:00As I wrote a while back concerning my thyroid cancer (this will be operation number 5 since 1995):
"Saw the surgeon today and he is optimistic. Doesn't know the full extent of what will be needed until he operates. Could be arthroscopically or with a larger incision (but still only about 6-8") and could even mean removing the lobe of the lung. It is right by the major arteries and veins between the heart and lungs. Can't even tell if the tumor is in the lung or just outside."
Well, after being given a date of March 24 (Thursday) for the surgery, I got a call this morning changing the surgery to tomorrow (Tuesday, March 22). Last time I saw him, he said there was about an 80% chance that he will be able to do it telescopically which would be great as I could go home tomorrow night. I certainly hope so.
Will let you know how it goes when I can.
