Stupid big city crime

j/k my small town mind thinking aloud. Big cities have advantages over small and vice versa. Mine is a preferance for small town living. Just read on.

Our friend called last night and said "Ask me how my day was."

"What happened?"

"My bank got robbed and I had a gun pointed in my face!"

My friend was talking on the phone to a customer w/ her back to the main door and she hears "This is a MotherF#$%ing robbery! Everybody get down!" at first she thinks someone is playing a joke(an unfunny one at that) customer on the phone heard that and said "You want me to call the police" friend replied "Yes" she turns around realizing that she is on the phone which would be a bad thing if the robber sees her. She tries to hang it up real slow as to not draw attention to her. Too late he saw & was up at her point a pistol in her face yelling to hang up the phone. She complied and he got the cash out of the drawers and ran. If you're in the Dallas area you may have heard of it.

A few weeks ago she and another lady had to open on a saturday and they kept hearing someone try to open the front door. Everytime they looked there was never anyone there this happened about 3 times. less than 1hour later a bank a few blocks away got robbed at gunpoint.

holy sh!t. Thats unreal to me. I live in a small town in NE Oklahoma something like that would never happen. I still leave my truck unlocked overnight and windows open during the summer.

She moved down there about 5-6 months ago. She took a better job than she had here, and been unsuccessful at finding one in the area, , but was it worth it? I dunno. It kinda freaks me out. I know for the most part my family is safe here, but things can happen anywhere at anytime. Do I have to worry about leaving my little world for the big city life. Maybe. My wife could be transfered to Houston and we'd have to go. No way she could find a better job or the same anywhere around here. *sigh*

Hey Tamer, My wife had worked in banking for over 13 years and has been robbed 6 times. Luckily none of them were takeovers. One on the tellers next to her at one had someone pull the tellers arm over the counter and put a needle full of blood in her arm and told her it was his blood and he had AIDS. Two years later one of the managers she knew well was murdered in a takeover. After that I convinced her to quit the banking industry since we have kids. She has never looked back.

I actually like that about Chicago. I live in a not so great area, but I enjoy it here. I like the idea of crazy shit going on all around me. Guess Im just stupid.

Sry Doodi, changed the title. Didnt mean to imply people that live in larger cities are stupid. Like I said though each is different and good in its own way. Different things appeal to different people.

Have lived in both a town of 2400 and city of 8 million (NYC). Give me the town of 2400 any day. Actually I prefer the city of 400,000 right next to it (Nashville).
