For the sake of all that is good in panties: If it is truely an access issue, your user might not be able to run the uninstaller. Do you and Sikrik have your own user IDs, maybe you can uninstall with his user. Check to see if the hijackThis.exe file is there under G:SPYWARE_KILLERS......HijackThis.exe if its not there, that's a different issue.

That's when I'd drop 10 and punt. Reformat and start over, because even if you do manage to fix that one particular issue, you may have many more that won't be found or that will crop up later. Not to mention not knowing if the security of your PC has been compromised. No panties please, my wife might look at me funny. :)

it depends on what you are installing. I assume you are trying to upgrade HijackThis and it isn't uninstalling the old version. Try uninstalling it in Control Panel->Add Remove programs. If that doesn't work try installing that version again. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=3155 Then try installing the new version. If you are trying to install something else than I wouldn't trust that program because it is trying to get rid of HijackThis.

HijackThis, the freeware, is a scanning program that allows advanced users to delete malware. It sounds like you downloaded a bad version. Since it is a freeware some hackers out there use it as a base for there malware. Try using SpyBot Search and Destroy. It is free and works well. Also, run CCleaner, which is another freeware that might allow you to uninstall the big bad, plus it will allow you to clean-up redundant, irrelevant, and malicious registry entries. Also, make sure you are your computers administrator when trying to uninstall programs. Could be a simple permission issue as well. Legit HiJackThis: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.php SpyBot: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/ Hope this helped. Other who use computers a lot can vouch for these programs. Some other good freestuff to keep you computer running smooth: Adaware (adware removal) and AVG fre version (anti-virus) Trolling porn sites is fraught with danger, running all of those programs above should help protect your computer. And they do not cost a thing. Only thing is that AVG can be a resource hog. Try tweak guides for instructions on runnings these programs w/o crippling your system resources. http://www.tweakguides.com/

Posting the link to the page that has the windows tweak guide: http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.html The tweak site is designed for PC Gamers trying to optimize their systems and there is some great info on there. Be careful though, once you start optimizing it becomes hard to stop and it quickly turns into a time sink. good luck Durty...we'll have to get some H3 games in sometime.

if it is malware, try going to http://www.superantispyware.com/ it's a free download and it helped me get rid of some nasty shit on my sister-in-laws PC awhile back.

Have you tried running the unistaller while you're in Safe Mode? I've found that works for me in the past, when a program hasn't installed properly.
