Has anyone else heard this shit yet?

Everlast went and did a cover of one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs, 'Folsom Prison Blues'.....and it is absolute shit. After mixing in some Cypress Hill 'Insane' and some random squeals and other noises they have accomplished what has surely made Johnny roll over in his grave. Thankfully this dumb shit waited until after The Man In Black died or Johnny most definitely would have shoved his big black boot up Mr. Dumbfucks ass. Seriously, this cover is the absolute worst cover of any song that I have ever heard. It sucks total ass.

So, for Johnny....here is the original....and some others of his that I really like. :) I had a hard time picking between all the songs of his I love...but these are the ones you get, lol.

'Folsom Prison Blues'

'Man In Black'

and Johnny's cover of Trent Reznor's 'Hurt'....this song makes me cry every time I hear him sing it, the pain in his voice makes it so real. He definitely took this and made it his own.

Kwazy's Kwazy, Durty..... this cover sucks. Everlast... most unoriginal "artist" since Vanilla Ice.

I almost like it, but I have two problems with it. First, why sing it with a jaunty/happy tone. It's a somber song FFS! Second, adding the sample is, well, it just doesn't work for me. Otherwise, he covers it fairly well, if you can factor out the crap parts. Of course it's not on par with Social D's cover for Ring of Fire! SC

They play the Social Distortion cover all the friggin time on Lithium on Sirius. I liked it, but I'm actually getting tired of it.

The Everlast cover isn't terrible, per se, but I could do without the "Jump Around" sample. That tripe in the beginning, having it appear that Johnny Cash was talking about Everlast...please. I still remember his "I Got the Knack" video where he looked like he should've been working on Wall Street, not trying to rap! lol! It might just be a case of anyone doing a cover of your favorite song/artist...nothing is going to sound as good as the original. I agree, Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" is excellent and the video just makes it that much better. Great imagery and emotion.

I really don't think it's that bad. The sample you're hearing is from Jump Around (House of Pain), and I think it was chosen and mixed to sound like a dobro. Not my favorite Cash cover, but not all that bad. Check out this U2 colab if you've never heard it...one of my favorites: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l3YFmpSFJ40

Johnny Cash music is awesome if you're learning guitar because every song is like 3 chords and the same strum pattern.
