Women vs Blacks

I have been feeling this way for a while and the new article I just read on the subject didn't help me much.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080315/ap_on_el_pr/polarized_politics

Why are black people voting for Obama and women voting for Clinton?  Just because they 'identify' with one or the other because of race or sex?    Makes no sense to me on an intellectual level.  We are going to end up with a president soley because they look like you?  I read a story a little while ago about black women in South Carolina (I believe, don't quote me on that...I don't really remember)  who were torn between voting for Obama because he is black and Clinton because she is a woman....Like that is their only basis for making political decisions.   I guess people don't really understand the political process.  You vote for the person who you think will make the best canidate for whatever office they are running for...NOT because they look like you!  I have no problem with people voting for either of them, I will be voting for one of them...but not because of one being black and the other being a woman.

I guess I just don't understand people....someone want to explain it to me?  Lol

Ps:  I shall post lots of hotties later :D

People are stupid. They say they vote for the woman because she is a woman or the black guy because he is a black guy and don't see the racism or sexism in their statements. However, you say I am voting for the white guy because he's white then you are a bigot and rightfully so. These people just don't realize that standards work both ways.

isn't that what geraldine ferraro just got in trouble for? i do believe people vote that way because people are stupid. obama has no experience and has not answered a single hard question because the media feels they need to treat him nicer since he's black. hillary's the anti-christ. i'm going to write myself in when it's time to vote.

There have been 43 presidents of the United States thus far. Of those 43 presidents, 43 have been white males. Of those 43 presidents, there have been no blacks and no women to hold office. I hardly think it makes people stupid/bigoted because they want to see a president who looks like them and may be more interested in issues they care about.

When I make a list of attributes I look for in a President, race and gender are not even on the list. They could be a freakin' Martian for all I care.

Since no black person or woman has ever held the highest level of office in this country, a lot of people would view that as a personal victory if they are black or female. It's like when Halle Berry was the first black female to win Best Actress - that was a big deal for all the other black females out there because it gave them hope that they have a chance to rise through the ranks. I'm not bothered by this too much just because Obama's and Hil's politics are closer than they would like everyone to think. So if people want to vote based on some other characteristic that doesn't make them any more or less qualified like race or gender, so be it. I personally think it will be pretty damn cool if a woman or a black man wins just to change some shit up. Either way - it will be a step forward for the country.

I'll explain it. People are dumb. See also that fact our current president was not only picked over a better candidate originally (McCain), but then not only got elected, but also got re-elected. Of course, he got elected the first time by a vote of 5-4.
