Shared on Tue, 06/07/2011 - 16:52What a nice day! I shopped for new clothes, got a fabulous new purse (marked down to $160 from $370- hot damn!!), went to the pool to swim, read & tan (perfect- not burnt at all), made a nice lunch and am just sitting around waiting to go. I love summer. I have time to do everything I need/want to do.
About the trip to the beach with Matt: we rode down there together with his parents (6 hrs in a jeep!), rock music blaring the whole way (they are huge Classic rock fans, and luckily so am I), then checked into the hotel and hit the bar. This is my kinda family. :) So we sat there drinking and then made our way over to the uncle's house, where the party was. This guy lives on the beach. Not near the beach, ON it! He has this huge gorgeous house, and what's more... eveyrone I met was so sweet, welcoming, funny, and I actually liked them. They all seem intelligent too (not just a bonus, a requirement- my ex's family was just stupid- must be the genes). I was fully prepared to hate his cousin, but she is so sweet! Thin, blonde, gorgeous, and personable, and not to mention... a JAG! Yes, she worked as a lawyer for the air force until recently and is now in private practice. She was really kind, and made sure to include me in conversations and point out who was who. Matt's shy and quiet, even around his family. I was actually more talkative than I had expected. In fact, I didn't even reach in my purse for my book or my phone to kill time with. It was just really pleasant! We partied until the next day, finally dragged ourselves back to the hotel to sleep, and then next day we toured the island, then went to a Rainforest/Aquarium thing. That was awesome too! That night we went out to dinner on the sea wall, then for drinks, then played miniature golf on a really cool course on the sea wall. Matt and I elected to walk back to our hotel, and we had a really romantic walk along the beach. It was very nice, the whole trip. The ride back was really long, but not horrible. Good tunes, good people, good fun. His JAG cousin was super drunk at one point during the evening of the party, and came over to us pointing out the different people in the family, talking about how Matt is so quiet and how did he ever say enough for anyone to have a chance to get to know him (I said it was like pulling teeth), and then she says, "well this family is what you'll be marrying into. I hope we're not too crazy for you!" I just said hmmm and nodded and smiled. I was holding Matt's hand right then and either his or mine got hot and sweaty right about then. LOL. Anyway, one mildly uncomfortable for the whole trip = win. :)
And now I'm off. Happy working, chumps! (Last time I'll rub it in until July. Probably.)
