I bought a house!

Hey longtime no see...

So I bought a house, I'm all moved in, Matt moves in in 3 weeks and things are peachy. Life is good. :)

XBOX milestone

I'm back home from China, recovering from my trip. Not bad but it was basically a glorified shopping tour sponsored by the Chinese government. Oh well. I got lots of nice things at dirt cheap prices, things that I could never buy in the States.  Silk, jade, pearls, tea, tea pots, etc were all at such great prices that I couldn't say no. It was a good trip. Not as much food poisoning luckily (some but brief) and we saw an amazing short opera in Hangzhou.

Headed back to China

Summer is off to a fast start- I leave for China in a matter of hours, and have booked my plans to Colorado, Wyoming and South Dakota for July. Good thing I like traveling! Matt is trying to convince me to go to Japan with him for two weeks, but I can't come close to enough money for the trip, and I certainly can't carry that kind of debt on my credit card. I have started playing the lottery, just in case. ;) I also just got word that my summer trip next year with the orchestra will be to Taiwan. I was lobbying for Australia, but I guess Taiwan is cool. We'll see.

Celebrating end of school year

I'm tired of school, kids are tired of it, and it shows on all of us. Glad we're down to the last week!

Dead Space

I've discovered Dead Space! What a great game. I didn't think I'd like it. I watched Matt playing it, and then I tried it a little at his house and got hooked. I've finished the first playthrough and am working on the remaining acheivements now in another playthrough. I like that it can make me jump, like Limbo did. I'm definitely planning on playing Dead Space 2.

Italy rocked

My trip to Italy (and a very brief stint in other parts of Europe) was just fantastic! Pics coming to my FB soon. I'm not adjusting to the time difference very well, now that I'm back. I had no trouble over there, but here is kicking my butt.

Since I'm sleepy I won't stay to tell about the trip, but instead leave you in suspense until I can be bothered to get on my computer at a normal time of day. I'm exhausted.

Short synopsis: I came, I saw, I ate, and I took hundreds of pictures and really enjoyed seeing my best friend after 11 months of absence!

Skyrim woes

Like an idiot I forgot to say things about Skyrim. Sorry for the double post!

So I've been finishing off little side quests and tidying up my miscellaneous category. I have found a few glitches or bugs or something-- the Amulet of Arkay: I have like 3 of those things, and I'm pretty sure I got the first one in the area I'm supposed to find one in, but no matter what, I can't convince the guy to take it (the one who assigned me the task). Anyone else facing that issue?

A memorial for the undead

That's right- the un-dead as in "not quite dead yet". A coworker's husband's grandfather is in ailing health and quickly slipping away, so he ordered the family to come to a memorial (for himself) tomorrow at noon. People are driving cross country right now as I type this, in an effort to reach this man's house by noon. My coworker said she doesn't really know how to feel about it. Is it sad? Is it happy? What do you say? "Gee, sorry you're gonna die soon.

Foodie experience

For Matt's Christmas present I promised him a night out at a nice restaurant for some actual Kobe steak or whatever type of cuisine he chose. We looked at a variety of steakhouses but ended up settling on Nobu, a Japanese-Peruvian fusion restaurant at the Crescent Hotel in Dallas. We ended up doing a chef's tasting menu which is 5 courses of chef's choice house specialties. We had the choice of seating, including a chef's table in the kitchen! (I didn't choose it but maybe next time we will.)

A day off

So far my MLK holiday has been a success:

1. wake up whenever I want... check

2. play xbox until I feel like making breakfast.... check

3. make the most awesome french toast in the history of the planet (with homemade lemon bread)...check

4. have both cats on my lap while reading.... check

5. make macaroons... check (technically they're still in the oven, so give that one a half check)
