Celebrating Bastille Day

Bonjour mes amis...

Matt and I went to a trendy little arts district this evening and celebrated Bastille Day with hundreds of other Francophiles. It was HHHHOTTTT! Not sexy hot, more like "Satan called. Wants his weather back," kinda hot. Still, there were steamed mussels, wine tastings (real glasses of wine, not just a piddly little plastic shot glass full you swish around like listerine), and crepe stations. We shopped at the Soda Gallery too, and got Nehi, Sunkist, some crazy asian pineapple soda, a coconut pulp soda (not so sure this one will go down right) and some really fantastic ginger beers. We ate at this roadhouse style place where the food was overpriced but really delicious. (Come on-- $33 for a pork chop??) I had a quesadilla with some lemon thyme hollandaise... odd combo but good, given the quesdailla was anything but traditional. Delicioso!  We had a really nice day together before that too. Actually, I snapped at him this morning for absolutely no reason, and he sulked like a child until finally I apologized and then everything was soon made better. ;) We made omelets for breakfast- really good ones, too, with smoked turkey, tomato and cheese inside, and sliced avocado on top. Pair that with a hot cup of strong coffee and some bagels and cream cheese, and it was just wonderful. I think we're over our weirdness- doesn't mean it's not there, but it doesn't feel weird. I keep dancing around the fringes of it, keeping it humorously present, and I actually think it's relaxed him a bit to see that I'm not freaking out over it (or rather, I'm no longer freaking out). Anyway, he's trying. I can see it, and more over, I pointed it out and he says he's glad that I can tell. I guess this is all good. If it works out, great. If not, at least we know for sure. We've been watchign the series Breaking Bad- just watched the first 4 episodes of season3 today. It's such a great show! The first seasons is my favorite so far, actually. Kinda like a recording artist's first album is almost always the best-- they've had forever to think on it and prepare it. Whatever comes after is a reaction to success. (IMO anyway, and certainly doesn't apply to all artists, and very few pre-1985.) Then we hung out at the pool and crisped our skin- managed to get some color on our tummies today. Then my ex came over to give me $$, and Matt got to stand threateningly behind me. It was funny b/c the ex was right about to just walk inside my front door when Matt stepped around behind me, towering over me (and thusly the ex who swears he's 5'9" but stands the same height as me in flats at 5'7") and he thrust the rest of the stuff in my hands, stole a few more glances at Matt and then took off. (I'm such a vindictive bitch- it's wrong that I take pleasure in making him squirm a little, just because I can. Doesn't mean I'll stop doing it.)

Oh some bad news on my phone: all was well, aside from wifi going out, but today suddenly the screen stopped lighting up. THe LCD screen right? Anyway, I think I need to take it back to get fixed again. Or should I bite the bullet and just buy the iPhone 4 at a stupidly high price since contract isn't up? Or is there a quick fix I can do at home? Help!

On Galaga: that game is great, so glad I bought it.

Dead Block: jury is still out. I love arcade games but this one doesn't seem like a "buy at full price" type of game yet.

New Magic 2012 game: I want it, but do I really need it?

DeathSpank: T.O.V.: I wish they're release a patch or something for that missing bit around Rudolph and Santa. I'd have 100% completion on it if it weren't for that.

Batman: enjoying it but not really getting into it as I thought I would. Hoping to still.

Happy Bastille Day everyone. If you don't know what it's about, at least google the celebrations in Paris today and watch the pretty fireworks! For the non-francophiles out there, recall when on The Simpsons, Willy taught French class and started with "Bonjouurrrrrr, you cheese eating surrender monkies!" LOL
