Crazy cat!

I have two fat cats who live with me, one of whom is featured in my wallpaper. That's Sam- he's been a little crazy recently:

I was sitting on the couch with him yesterday, watching TV. He was sleeping so hard he was snoring. Then his feet start twitching, which I think is adorable, and then his mouth and whiskers are twitching... Suddenly he slaps something hard, hisses, and jumps to his feet on full alert! He looks around, searching for whatever was in his nightmare I guess, and looked so confused (poor baby). He was all agitated for a moment or two, looked around again very carefully, then settled back in to sleep.

It was funny the first time, but it's happened three times since then. I switched his food to a less expensive brand (I'm having  a hard time justifying $16/bag) and I'm wondering if there's meth or something in the new stuff! The other cat has been fine, except he threw up once. Anytime I change his diet that happens, so I wasn' toverly concerned until Sam started tripping again. Maybe it's back to the old cat food?

On another note, I started drawing again. I haven't drawn in years, at least nothing significant. I used to love pen & ink- makes for stark contrasts. Anyway, I drew some stuff today that turned out WAY better than I thought I could ever do, much less after a 12 year hiaitus. I want to email to a friend to see but I'm actually worried I'll get laughed at if it's no good and I just THINK it is. I play violin in front of thousands of people and have little fear. I can show a couple quick drawings to one person, right? Hands sweating even thinking about it.

Also, just starting watching Pillars of the Earth... I'm SO addicted to it already! Even more than Firefly or Spartacus! Great series.

Yeah, the diet change could be contributing to the poor guy's "night terrors". How long has he been doing it? Could it possibly correlate to your starting back up with school? Maybe he's just a little more tense than usual. They're fairly resilient creatures, so he'll probably snap out of it soon enough.

Hope your kitty is okay! One of mine does that sort of thing all the time. She even growls and hisses in her sleep, then wakes up all jumpy and scared. Then comes find me and meows this scared little meow. But she's done it her whole life. I, too, worry when they do anything new. Have you looked around online to see if anyone else has seen such a change in their cats? That's what i always do lol Good luck!

I'm awaiting judgment of the one acceptable to post in public. I actually think I might scrap it- looking at it again this morning made me realize how sophomoric it appears. As to the cat, thanks for all the suggestions! I hadn't thought about my schedule change being a cause, but it certainly makes sense. Both the cats crawl all over me as soon as I get home, and stick to my side like glue for a few hours. Aww, they missed me, :) It's nice to be missed.
