GNO

I had a wonderful GNO last night with some ladies from work. We celebrated the end of the first week of school (which may have been the longest week in recorded history). I NEVER go to Happy Hour with people from work because I'm not good friends with many of them, and I prefer to keep to myself. The French teacher twisted my arm and said at least stop by, so I did. I got there around 5:15 and planned to say hi, stay about half an hour, then bail and go to Edina's house for dinner, however the rest of our dinner party completely cancelled so I stayed at GNO. We were at a burger place right behind where I live (walking distance easily) so that was convenient! (I had the BEST sweet potato fries!) 

Anyway, the way I behave at school is ENTIRELY different than how I am when I'm out. I actually let people get to know me and it was fun! I was there til about 11:30- there were still 5 of us left at that point! (It had started with about 20.) So I have been invited out for some other events they do together. It's nice to feel included. I am trying to be more social so I don't sit at home in the dark alone. LOL. Being social and friendly, ESPECIALLY with other women, is really hard for me. Luckily, they were good at it so I was fine after a bit. I guess I just need to get over myself and be friendly. You know how there are always those people you can't stand for no reason at all? (Mattress saleslady, LOL)  And then there are people who can't stand you, simply because you exist? (I can think of a few.) I think I enter most social situations with a chip on my shoulder and once I let it go I actually have a good time, even around people I didn't initially like, or give a chance to.

I also managed to piss off one of my symphony friends.... I got this hateful message on my voicemail.., I actually have NO idea what touched this off- it's very strange. I think I will do some damage control today. Maybe review any texts or emails or FB posts I made that irritated her. I really have no idea what I could have said. I am usually pretty sarcastic and she doesn't know me really well yet so maybe I was misunderstood.
