I looked on the scheduled maintenance board, my unit number wasn't even written on there. I said I'll come back to turn in my check after maintenance drops by to have a look at my light, and I left. An hour later there was a knock at my door and the guy was there to fix it. I mentioned that this has been called in a week ago and I was concerned that it was more than just a popped lighbulb. He said the secretaries hadn't notified him, but they did tell him my hallway light OUTSIDE my apartment was out (which it wasn't). Anyway, he took off the cover and took off the entire fixture, showed it to me- the wire had burned clean through- the lightbulbs that were in there were 40 watts OVER what should have been in, and it shot the whole thing. He came back a little later with a whole new set of stuff: new wires, everything. I asked him about the fire hazaard it presents- now that this has happened, what will prevent it from happening again? He said to make sure I don't switch out the bulbs- call him and he'll do it. The new set of stuff he put it should be ok (still, I'm thinking I'll use that light a little less frequently that I had in the past, just in case) and that if I experienced the same type of thing again I should call him directly. He said it was a good thing I noticed the problem and he apologized for the office not understanding that it was a fire hazaard as well as inconvenience. After he left I walked down to the office and handed them my rent check and asked if the maintenance guy had updated them on the situation and they said not yet, so I said be sure to ask.
