Shared on Wed, 09/15/2010 - 17:50I have been listening to the song "Porn Star Dancing" over and over- I've had it in my head for awhile now, thanks to a certain someone's ringtone :) Anyway, I finally DLd it a couple days ago, and I've been playing it in my car, on my iphone while I'm at my desk, etc. However when I'm not listening to it I can't stop hearing it in my head either! I've tried combatting this with "It's a Small World", "We are the World", and "Kumbayah". No luck- I keep hearing these dirty hot lyrics over & over. Makes for an interesting day.
So here I am sitting at my desk after school today, listening to (you guessed it) that song on my ipod. Kids are coming in & out of the orchestra room to get their instruments, I'm in my own little world entering grades into the computer... sure enough I start just barely singing along with the song... yeah, out loud. Nearly all the movement in the room ceases, which I see out of the corner of my eye. I look up and there are about 10 kids whose mouths are forming perfect "o"s, staring at me aghast! I think I scarred them for life. At least I wasn't singing along with the really dirty stuff!! *facepalm*. Luckily I was singing pretty quietly I think, and maybe they didn't hear my exact words.
I stop the music, look up and say "ohmigawd was I singing along?" Ten heads bob up & down, then one asks "What were you singing? I couldn't understand the words." Another asks "What song was that?" I said "none of your business now get your stuff and go!" One makes a grab for my iphone (he would pull back a nub where his finger used to be if he got a hold of my phone) but I snatched it away quickly, so he said Hey I just wanted to see what song it was! (That would be no.)
Teacher Fail today.
Oh I also got pranked this morning. It was awesome. I left school early yesterday afternoon... when I walked into my classroom this morning I saw my entire orchestra ensemble set-up (the chairs and stands) was inverted! Someone had turned all the chairs backward and set all the stands as tall as possible, facing the back walls. I stood there staring at it for a clean 10 seconds then bust out laughing and took a couple pics. It was so funny to me! I wonder what they're planning to do next!?
***Update***- I got promoted!!!! I went to symphony rehearsal tonight and have been named principal Violin II !!!! This is wonderful news for me, and also means a hell of a lot more work. My favorite thing about this promotion: as 1st chair, I get to make the decisions regarding bowings for my section! (This is huge in the string world, and I'm thrilled.) Yay me! So a music fail and a music win in one day: I guess I broke even!
