Quasi-dinner party

Today I'm hosting a dinner party at lunch time. What do you call that? Luncheon? Well, whatever it is, that's what's going on.

Menu: frommage d'affinois appetizer, grilled salmon, lemon basil pasta, and steamed mussels.

Then after eating, we're having quartet rehearsal. I've just finished a string quartet arrangement of Brahms' Intermezzo in A Major, Op. 118, No. 2. It's such a lovely tune. YouTube it, it's worth your time to hear it, if you appreciate beautiful piano music. Anyway, we're reading through my arrangement of this piece for the first time today, so fingers crossed for success.

Last night I had dinner with a friend and her husband, who announced mid-meal that they're divorcing. They were perfectly amicable about it and mentioned it almost casually as in "how do you like my new sweater?". I knew it was coming though. Anyway, we went to a Brazilian churrascuria- it was meat heaven! I had the most delectable cuts of meat I've ever tasted, and best of all, everything was medium rare!!! The clouds parted, angels sang, I ate well. It was a nice night, divorcing aside.

Tomorrow is the first day of school. I'm nearly prepared. It will be fun though, I love the first few days. I also know that I'll be very ready for the weekend to appear again! And payday! Talk about stretching my budget. I'm down to double digits in my account. Not pretty. So it's ramen noodle soup for lunch this week I think! That's ok, I love ramen.
