Shared on Sun, 03/20/2011 - 21:41Today was the last time I got to hang out with the girls, all three of us together.... Well, last time for awhile anyway. My best friend is moving to Italy in a few hours and we had one last hang out together- Mexican food, a dash to the shopping center, a quick pregnancy test for all three of us (it's based on actual events, now it's just something we do to be silly... although secretly I know one is disappointed she's not pregnant). I'm glad I've gotten over my whole "sad about not having kids" thing. I saw the negative sign (no surprise) and didn't even get choked up. Really though, this would be a most inopportune time to be pregnant. Anyway, we managed to get through dinner and shopping without any tears, but the last hugs in the parking lot got me. Then I had to sit in my car crying like an idiot for ten minutes til I could see well enough to drive home. Stupid female emotions. I'm thrilled for her, but sad she's going so far away for so long. Glad I can visit.
Exciting news for me: I have leased a new apartment even closer to work! Well, technically it's further in mileage (by .25 of a mile) but faster because I have no lights, no traffic, and no school zones. My 6 minute commute is now a 4 minute commute. :-D I can hear you all retching in disgust for my good luck. :-/ Going to be moving in mid May. Yayyyyy!
I had a really rotten day last Thursday. Nothing seemed to go right and I pissed off Matt by acting like such a brat around him for a few hours. We patched it up this weekend and all is well. He didn't have any brothers or sisters, so he's just gonna have to get used to women all at once rather than gradually. He agreed. He got some major boyfriend points today though---this afternoon my cat threw up everything he ever ate (I mean MOUNDS of vomit) and before I could do more than gape and slap my hands to my cheeks (a la Macauley Culkin in Home Alone) Matt got up and cleaned it up, then scrubbed my carpet. Is this a good guy or what? Then he took out the trash for me so I wouldn't have to smell it later. <3
Has anyone had the candy bar called "Thingamajig" put out by Hershey? Matt and I bought a "Whatchamacallit" then a "Thingamajig" and compared them. Thingamajig totally won. I wonder what's next? Doo-Hickey?
For those of you who like dark comics and comic shorts, check out "Cyanide and Happines". It's hilarious! Definitely dark humor, very funny stuff, and definitely an equal opportunity offender. I just discovered this one. One that I've liked for year is called Red Meat. Those are bizarre, and feature a range of characters that are soooo wrong. My favorite is Milkman Dan or the gothic cowboy reject.
Games.... old school time- I pulled out Europa 1400 for PC... OMG that game is fun! I totally forgot how involved it is. I love civilization games, so I thought I'd fire it up again. Totally worth it, despite crappy graphics and lack of action. I also loaded my Sid Meyers' Pirates game. LOVE that one!
Trip to China is still one- now flying into Shanghai instead of Beijing because it's a lot cheaper, then catch a connector to Beijing. As long as I'm not on my own in China with no translator then I'll be fine (right?).
Gigs: I've picked up a ton of gigs recently (yay) and have been working so hard on arrangements for them all. Hard work for sure, but definitely fun and I love my new quartet! It's weird being the weakest player, but I'm just glad they want me to play with them. It's very good experience and the money doesn't hurt either. $150 an hour has a nice ring to it. $-)
So now I'll drown my sorrows in more work on arrangements, probably a diet coke too.
