The Power Of One

Hello again guys.  I am starting to get used to this blog thing now and its just a matter of time before I get used to putting all my thoughts on here for you to read.  Anyway, I was getting prety pissed off at our UK connection speeds and services.  You guys over in the States know what its like to play the British on their host etc, laggy, latency, red bar need I say more?

That is because our main upload speeds have only been running at about 288kbs with 2mbs,  cable having a better run with connection but suffering from the distance everything has to travel plus more people using the same cable  hence slowing everything down.  Now British Telecom (BT) has had the rule of telecoms forever, I will admit that they do give the best service available and are always fair to an extent but now there are a lot companies are challenging their reign with discounted services etc (there are normally hidden charges and costs for support in these contracts). 

Carphone warehouse has just gone live with their service of 8mbs down with 1mbs up for free (you have to pay £20.99 though for line rental and their telephone package but it still works out at half the price for the service I am getting plus my service is only 2mbs down with 288kbs up.  I phoned BT about this and complained that unless they do something immediately to keep me as a customer I will be moving to the other deal (this was lies, BT are just too good but need a kick up he ass sometimes).  All I wanted really was a speed upgrade to 8mbs down and 1mbs up but here is what they done to keep my business:- They immediately changed my connection speed, I am first in line to test their new 12mbs when the 8mbs is rolled out, they gave me a huge discount on my line rental and broadband package (I used to pay £47 a month for it and now Im paying £30) and to apologise for my troubles are now sending me out a brand new wireless router too.

What Im trying to say I suppose is that if you dont ask you dont get and if you fight hard enough you can get more than you really deserve.
