I tend to be a little on the shy side, so when my co-workers asked me if I wanted to get started I said, "I don't know what to do." I haven't had a baby shower in ten years. Do I just start opening presents, or give a speech? So they told me to sit in the chair that was placed strategically in the middle of the room and they would begin handing me gifts for Maddie. OH MY GOSH! There were so many. I was kind of embarrassed to have so much attention focused on me. Boy was I relieved when Maddie finally arrived. A lot of attention turned to her. She was so good and of course everyone wanted to hold her. In all, Maddie received at least 20 to 30 outfits, several packages of diapers and baby wipes and rattles. The gift that greatly sticks out in my mind though is one of my co-workers had purchased this pink blanket and had embroidered on one of the corners a heart with Maddie in the middle. I started crying. It was so beautiful. I had never expected something so personal. I imagine in twenty or so years, this will still be Maddie's favorite blanket. (sigh) I have the best group of people anyone could ever hope to work with. I am truly blessed.
