Red Dead Multiplayer ..... meh.

If you don't play Red Dead Redemption or don't give a rip about some noobs first experience with the multiplayer aspect of th game, then you should probably just move along...

O.K.

Last night (or early this morning for you retentive types) I had just finished up the last game of Clan night and someone mentioned  playing some Red Dead Redemtption multiplayer. I had already planned to head to "Ol ' Meh-hi-co" for an hour or so to continue my single player story , so I thought, hey! I haven't played the multiplayer part yet ,this should be fun.  Im In!  So, I log off, put in RDR  and head out into the wild west. Sure enough, I get a request coming in from one of the guys in the clan and I'm thinking alright! here we go! and I hit the accept. Bam! I get a "sorry can't join group- try free roam  message" and now I'm standing in a Mexican pueblo I have never seen before. Also, I look slightly like Curly from the Three Stooges trying to play a Mexican banditio. Uh Oh, this isn't looking good. Oh, well, I'll just grab a horse and roam around.  Wait, where are the horses? Usually there's a horse every ten feet or so with people riding by every ten seconds. So far, I see me and a couple of peasants walking around. O.K, I'll check the map and head to somewhere I'm familiar with.

O.K, I'm all the way over on the map where I haven't been yet in single player. O.K. I'll explore a little bit. Run Run Run Run Run Run Run walk where are all the damn horses? walk walk walk, run run run run run run this sucks! Wait, I see a town ahead good! There are bound to be horses in town. Run run run run run Here I am in a town- no frigging horses. Wait what's this wagon wheel thing? Transport? cool! I'll warp to Armadillo there's bound to be people there.

Warp to Armadillo. Well there are some people here with big  icons over there head. Some are purple some are green I have no idea what the color means so I'll step out and lets see what they're up to. Wait, why is this guy shooting at me? What the hell did I do to him? Fine you want to shoot, well let me whip out my...cattleman pistol. That's it? Oh great, I'm dead. Fine. Respawn? Yes. O.K I'm back,   new plan- avoid people with icons over their heads until you know their intentions. Watching some people shoot each other. I get it Free Roam = Free for all. O.K. wait , I'm drawing fire, O.K i'm dead. Guy with a rifle shot me in the back. Good for you pal. Back again hey I bet the livery has horses. Yep, there's one in the barn. Now I have a horse, time to make like horse shit and hit the dusty trail. Bye Armadillo! 

Out on the desert, minding my own business I hear some folks conversing in spanish over  voice chat. I hear several "bendejo" (forgive my poor spanish spelling for you non spanish speaking types it means  "asshole") and a couple of other choice non friendly terms for people and  then I see the guys with icons are closing in on me and you guess it, bam, dead. 

Alright, this is starting to suck so I'm getting ready to bail when Bing! invite! O.K I'll accept, do I want to spawn near the posse leader? Of course I do silly. Tadah! I'm now near a bunch of people and I'm seeing familiar names from my clan  - so and so just killed this guy, This guy killed that guy ect ect. Everyone is at a big Mexican fort shooting gattling guns and cannons Alright! I've heard about the cannons and I just recently used a gattling gun so here we g.....BOOOM! killed by cannon fire from someone in fort. Respawn, and now run into the fort.

Try out cannon on Mexican army guys Oh, now I'm wanted Oh well, I'm wanted, big deal. Using the cannon was fun Oh, someone just rode up, I don't recognize gamertag and since I had been the recent recipiant of random violence I decided to try Mr. Cannon on green tag man.  Oh yeah first shot! Sorry  dude, nothing personal, just wanted to see what would happen. Guy comes back.   Oops, he's the brother of one of the clan members. O.K. he's a friendly don't shoot him anymore.

Everyone starts dissappearing.

Well, it's me, brother green tag and a purple tag guy who shoots at me and gets blasted for his troubles. I have now upgraded my armament to a repeater rifle and a nice double action pistol, so bring it.   He does.    We start killing each other respawning and killing each other again about six or seven times until I thought, this isn't any fun, I'm heading out. Kill purple tag man and he leaves the session. Green tag no longer around.  I commandeer a wagon from some poor NPC and go out down the road.

Another invite and I accept to find out I'm on one side of the map and everyone else is litteraly  on the complete opposite side. Lost my ride when I accepted invite so its  run run run to the nearest town with a transport wheel and I warp to the closest area. This place actually has people riding horses and I find an unattended horsey and away I go to meet with my posse.  Now one of theguys wants to go back to the Mexican fort.  Fine by me, lets go.  We transport over to the fort.

After a few minutesof playing king of the hill with the Mexican Army,  I once again notice I'm the only one in the fort. The Posse has left the building.

Screw this, I'm going back to single player. You can have this shit.
