I like Kevin Smith movies. There I said it.  Mr. Smith reccently released a movie he wrote and directed called "Red State". The noteworthy thing is he chose to go direct distribution instead of getting a studio to get behind it, he got the funding himself , made the movie and distributed it through his own company. He made the movie for approximaltely 4 million dollars. He had the film in limited release with some Q&A afterward then went to on demand and DVD release. I had heard that this was not the typical Kevin Smith movie.

Well , last night, I happened to see it in a store and decided to go ahead and get it.   Saw it last night and it definitley isn't a Jay and Silent Bob movie.

Basically,  the story is about a group that is similar to Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church with a little Branch Davidian thrown in. Mr. Smith has one scene specifically put in to keep the Phelps from suing him which I'm sure they considered after seeing this. (Mr. Smith mentioned sometime ago in an interview some of them went to the premire but left before the film ended)

Michale Parks (you've sen him in some Tarrantino films) was excellent as the patriarch of the group. The last scene was especially good.

There is a point in the movie where you get a WTF???? but I won't spoil it here. You'll know when it occurs.

All in all a really good movie. I don't know if i would recommend buying it, but definately I recommend seeing  it.

I loved it. And I think I know which WTF moment you're referring to, but there were a few moments like that!
