Guitar Playing - 2 Weeks In

So I've been playing the guitar for just over two weeks now. I've added "Old McDonald" to the list of songs I can play. I also know the chords version of a few other simple folk songs. When I'm sitting around watching TV I'll pick up the guitar and practice the songs I know. I've played every day and I'm starting to get some calluses on my finger tips. It makes playing much easier, but typing at work feels weird. Luckily the years of Guitar Hero and Rockband seems to have limbered up my fingers and wrist enough to the point I can play for hours at a time with no cramps or muscle soreness. I'm just now getting into the more difficult chords, so I might be speaking too soon about the cramps.

In Rocksmith I will be trying to unlock the Dawn of the Chordead mini game today (video below). I really think this will help me learn the chords and get better at switching between them. I'm not sure what gig I'm on now, I think maybe the fifth one. I left off last night just a few points shy of qualifying for the last song of the set (Pixies - Where Is My Mind). I might of passed it last night but it was getting late.

I have to say that I am really happy with Rocksmith so far and I feel I've barely even scratched the surface. It is hard as hell, but never gets to the toss your guitar, yank the cable and kick over the TV level of frustration. I also really like the sense of accomplishment I get by finally nailing a riff then being able to play it back for my family later. This is what takes it out of the game category for me. I really think I can stick with this. I think maybe I will post a video of myself playing horribly as sort of a reference point. Then one year from now I'll make another video showing me playing the same song. I think it will be very interesting to see how much I can progress. Anyone have a song request for this little experiment? Here's the track list. I've also downloaded I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace, Smoke on the Water by Deep Purple and (Don't Fear) The Reaper by Blue Öyster Cult.

That's all I have today, sorry no boobs. Maybe next time.
