Played In Bloom a few more times last night, have the solo leveled up to 80% now and the rest of the song unlocked at 100%.  Scored in the mid 90K range now.  Did this on both the single note and the combo version.  The only real difference between them is that the combo turns the single notes into a basic power chord.

I'll continue to work on the solo.  Hopefully I'll have it completely unlocked and be able to play it by this weekend.  Would be a nice ego booster to nail this song and unlock the master mode since it is way tougher than Next Girl was.

Played this again yesterday.  It had been a few weeks since I played it.  I hit 80,000 points on it.  Except for the solo, the entire song is unlocked.  For the solo I think I'm going to have to go into the games riff repeater and just keep practicing that over and over.  Either that or I'll have to find the tab for it online and practice it when I'm not playing the game.

Still working on Crazy Train. I've got the into down now at full speed, working on the chorus now. 

So last night I went back to Next Girl by The Black Keys.  On my 2nd time playing it I finally nailed the entire song and unlocked the master mode, which is where you can play the song with just the backing track, no notes on screen.  I haven't actually played it like this though, I want to run through it a few more times before taking my crutch away.  I'll just not look at the screen unless I get stuck.

Short blog. I got another Pleco in my tank, hope this little fucker doesn't go belly up on me like the last one.

I know this may not be exactly like the original, but dude is a fucking great teacher. Had me playing this in less than 20 minutes, even the 2nd part where he doesn't break down the frets. Now I just need to learn the solo, should have it down by March*.

Last night I hit 100% of the notes on the chord arrangement of Pearl Jam's "Black".  Not exactly an amazing feat, there is only 5 chords in the song (A, C, D, E & Em) and they never come at you any faster than 3 seconds apart, but I'm still pleased that I was able to memorize the fingering for them and transition to each one smoothly.  Plus it's a really cool song just to listen to, relax and strum along with.

So I went back and played Nirvana's "In Bloom" tonight.  It's hard to believe that just a few short weeks ago I was struggling on this song.  My previous best score (after playing it everynight for a week) was 45,000.  I played it once tonight and got over 60,000 points on it.  Rocksmith is working.  With a few more play throughs I think I could unlock the full song note for note.  WTF, I never would have thought in a million years I could go from not knowing a damn thing about a guitar to playing complete songs in just 5 weeks.  This "game" is awesome.  If anyone reading this has the sligh

After one month I can play this song.

Granted I still need Rocksmith to get through the entire thing and I do miss a note here and there but I'm still pretty stoked.  I haven't quite gotten the last part of the song memorized yet, but I am able to just sit down and play the first 75% without any assistance.  It's an awesome feeling to be able to sit on the couch and play something other than "Old McDonald had a Farm".

It's a Fender Blacktop Stratocaster HSH.  It's a made in Mexico so it isn't top of the line, but definitely a hell of a lot better than the made in China starter guitar I'm learning on.  If I'm still playing everyday and having fun in 3 months, I think I'm going to buy one for myself as a birthday present.  At first I was leaning toward an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, but for the same price I think I'd rather have this one.
